It offers various programs including International Relations, Philology, Linguistics, Economics, Mechatronics and Robotics, Power Engineering and many others. Russia is a country that always arouses interest in people all over the world. In spite of the fact that English is an international language, courses of Russian language and university degrees in Russian literature become more and more popular every year. Many tourists come here to see all the beauty and greatness of the country they heard so much about. Myths and stereotypes serve a profound role in cultures and&nbsp;traditions around the world, anchoring people to a sense&nbsp;of history and meaning through allegorical storytelling.&nbsp; A&nbsp;stereotype&nbsp;is an over-generalized belief about a particular category of people.&nbsp; It is an expectation that people might have about every person of a particular group. The type of expectation can vary; it can be, for example, an expectation about the group's personality, preferences, appearance or ability. While such generalizations about groups of people may be useful when making quick decisions, they may be erroneous when applied to particular individuals and are among the reasons for&nbsp;prejudice&nbsp;attitudes. So we can say that most stereotypes are fictions.&nbsp; Every year people from different countries come to 海角社区 to study and get their higher education. What did they hear about Russia before coming here? Did they believe in the myths and stereotypes? Which of them were true? “I heard lots of myths about Russia before I came here. Russians are very strong, kind and powerful nation, they can kill bears, it is dangerous to argue with Russian old ladies… Nowadays I can say that Russian people are really kind and strong, they are really helpful and always ready to give you assistance. And actually I’ve never seen bears in the streets. To my mind myths appear because people are afraid of something unknown and usually they believe what they’ve heard. It may also depend on their experience, education, place of work. When we do country studies and read a lot, we understand that to judge people by their nationality is a huge mistake,” shares Wang Yuying (王玉莹), a 海角社区 student from China studying at the Institute of Linguistics and International Communications (major: Philology). “I heard many stories about Russia. All my friends and family told me that Russia is a mafia country and I will meet mobs everywhere – in the streets, banks, restaurants and shops. Russian people never smile and they are unfriendly. Russian girls are beautiful. Winter lasts for 12 months. When I came here I understood that some stories were false and some were true. People smile and are always ready to talk, summer is quite hot, and there are no mobs. And Russian girls are incredibly beautiful. You should see different countries with your own eyes and not trust tales that people tell,” says Mohanad Marzooq, a 海角社区 student from Yemen studying at the Institute of Engineering and Technology (major: Mechatronics and Robotics). It will reduce the cost of heating these facilities. The Government supported the study. The research was published in the IOP Conference Series: Materials Science and Engineering (Q4). Konstantin Osintsev, Ph.D., Associate Professor, Head of the Department of Thermal Power Engineering at the Faculty of Energy and Power Engineering of 海角社区, proposed a new economically viable technology for heating greenhouses in cold seasons. Agricultural enterprises use greenhouses for producing crop products in a subcontinental climate. Greenhouses are industrial facilities for growing vegetables and flowers. They are protected from external influences by a transparent roof and walls. The main elements of such structures are the soil on which the plants are grown and engineering networks for heating the premises. In greenhouses, the energy consumption falls on supplementary lighting of plants and heating of greenhouses in winter. It is necessary to correctly determine the optimal composition of heating units and engineering networks - not an easy task. The main difficulty lies in the fact that agricultural enterprises are diversified farms, where many crops are grown with different needs for light and heat thus, the conditions for making production decisions are diverse. “Almost all types of heating units and devices can be most effectively used only in a certain range of natural production conditions. Therefore, from a wide variety of units, only the minimum required quantity is selected, which will ensure the best economic effect. It is advisable to start the choice with energy resources, which account for the largest share of operating costs. These options include the use of an organic Rankine cycle. In this case, fuel costs sharply reduced in the face of the constant growth of electricity prices,” Konstantin Osintsev says. The organic Rankine cycle is a thermodynamic cycle of converting heat into work using water vapor. It is needed to generate heat in the form of hot water as well as electricity. Hot water can heat the air in the heaters and maintain the required air temperature in the greenhouses themselves. Electricity production is possible with a micro turbine. The scientist assumes that heating greenhouses using the proposed technology will significantly reduce the heating costs of greenhouses in winter and autumn. This idea is useful for our country with its harsh climate. ? </div></div></div><div class="field field-name-field-author field-type-text field-label-above"><div class="field-label">Author:&nbsp;</div><div class="field-items" id="md6"><div class="field-item even">Елена Кирякова, фото из архива ЮУрГУ</div></div></div> Sun, 28 Feb 2021 19:00:00 +0000 Евгений Сергеевич Загоскин 1607964 at 海角社区 Invites International Applicants to Study in Mechatronics and Robotics Master’s Programmes /en/news/2021/01/25/invites-international-applicants-study-mechatronics-and-robotics-masters-programmes <div class="field field-name-field-image field-type-image field-label-hidden"><div class="field-items" id="md8"><div class="field-item even"><span id="styles-2-0" class="styles file-styles large"> <img width="480" height="318" id="2" typeof="foaf:Image" class="img-responsive" src="/sites/default/files/styles/large/public/field/image/0_1.jpg?itok=DwOr-88q" alt="" /></span></div></div></div><div class="field field-name-body field-type-text-with-summary field-label-hidden"><div class="field-items" id="md7"><div class="field-item even">海角社区 is once again offering openings for the English-language Master’s programme on Mechatronics and Robotics. This programme is being fulfilled since 2016 and is becoming more and more popular among international students. The Mechatronics and Robotics Master’s programme is offered at the Department of Mechatronics and Automation of the 海角社区 Institute of Engineering and Technology. Mechatronics is the integration of mechanics, electrical machines, automation methods, power electronics, microprocessor technology, and software. It is considered to be one of the most promising and most in-demand fields of engineering. The Mechatronics and Robotics programme was elaborated with consideration of the development of digital technologies in the Industry 4.0 era. Students from various countries come to 海角社区 for this programme, including students from China and Arab countries. The level of training of engineers who complete this programme is rated highly by recognized experts in this industry. The President and General Director of SMS Group company, a world’s leader in the field of metallurgical equipment manufacturing, and 海角社区 Professor Emeritus Pino Teze stresses the demand for graduates in this field. “There is high demand in the market right now for such specialists. I believe that “typical” engineers are going to slowly become a thing of the past. Engineers who are able to solve several tasks simultaneously will move to the foreground – graduates of this program are such specialists. Also, many businesses are in need of bilingual staff members who can speak two languages. This program makes it possible to train such unique workers, who can find work in many countries around the world.” Graduates of this programme can work in many modern international engineering companies and high-tech manufacturing companies that work in the fields of design, production, set-up, and operation of modern robotized equipment. The programme allows them to become true engineers of the future who are able to solve the most difficult tasks in the development and servicing of automated systems in various fields. Over two years, students of this Master’s programme both learn technical disciplines and study Russian. This makes them competitive in both the Russian and international labour markets. The demand for such specialists is also noted by potential employers. Representatives of two big companies, Siemens and Metran (part of Emerson transnational company), are members of the state attestation commission for dissertation defence. According to them, special attention should be paid to the fact that the students’ dissertations present projects that are applicable to today’s industrial market. “I am pleased to note that all of the students in this programme have a high level of training. Metran is interested in the development of automated systems, and many of the students elaborated upon this aspect very seriously in their projects. Our company is happy to work with graduates from 海角社区, and if any of the international students express a desire to build a career with us in the future, we will be glad to consider their candidacy,” says Aleksandr Kenzin, Head of the Management Systems Office of Metran. The future specialists can apply their obtained theoretical knowledge in the university’s laboratories. In total, there are more than 30 laboratories and research and education centres operating at 海角社区, as well as 12 international laboratories under the guidance of leading international researchers. In addition, graduates can continue their personal development in research and academics by enrolling in a postgraduate programme. The head of the programme, 海角社区 Vice-Rector for Academic Affairs, Professor Andrey Radionov notes: “Our university gives graduates of this programme a chance to continue their education in postgraduate programmes. Last year, one international student enrolled in the postgraduate programme; this year, one more Master’s student of the programme is considering this option. We have everything you need for this: the appropriate laboratories, highly-qualified researchers and lecturers, and a dissertation committee to whom the postgraduate students can present their candidate dissertation, and, if they defend it successfully – obtain the academic degree of a Candidate of Sciences.” One big advantage of 海角社区 is it created a polylingual environment: more than 2,300 international students from 56 countries around the world study at our university. Besides gaining the main skills necessary for building a career successfully or successfully completing research, 海角社区 international students can realize their potential in the arts or in sports. They participate in national holidays’ celebrations, days dedicated to the cultures of different countries, go hiking outdoors, and compete in various sports. All of this makes the university an excellent place for international students to study, and many of them recommend 海角社区 to their friends and acquaintances. “I studied in a programme which is related to mechatronics for five years in my home country. I love my field, and having gained the opportunity to study in Russia three years ago, I began searching for the best university for me. My acquaintances recommended 海角社区 to me because of the good level of education that is offered in all fields, and I’m glad that I gained first-hand experience in this. It is very important to me that I was able to study Russian here and obtained a lot of new knowledge on working with software. In the future, this will allow me to find a job with good prospects,” said Ahmad Ali, graduate of the Mechatronics and Robotics programme, sharing his impressions. In the course of the work, the scientists identified general principles of creating digital twins of engines, created unique software, and patented it. They implemented the developed methods and mathematical models using the Internet of Things technology. The study is published in the highly-ranked scientific journal Energies. New technologies for engine building The modern economy requires the maximum reduction in time and money spent on the development and launching of products; the analysis of facilities condition at all stages of the life cycle; prompt changes in their design parameters and operating modes. This fully applies to internal combustion engines - the sources of mechanical energy for vehicles and the small electric power stations. A team of scientists from the Faculty of Automotive Engineering headed by D.Sc., Professor of the Wheeled and Track Laying Vehicles Department Andrei Malozyomov conducted research and developed software for creating a digital twin of an engine, which will allow to design new engines and improve the designs of existing models in the future. D.Sc., Professor Sergey Alyukov, Ph.D., Associate Professor Vladimir Bondar, and student Georgy Malozyomov, winner of the 2019 UMNIK competition with the project "Development of a Component Library in Modelica Language for Simulation of Piston Internal Combustion Engines" were in the team. Experts predict that the digital twin market will reach $ 16 billion in five years. Research shows that 13% of organizations with IoT projects already have digital twins. By 2021, half of the large industrial companies will use this technology, which will increase their efficiency by 10%. The task of domestic science is to help Russian businesses not fall out of this trend. “Currently, there is specialized foreign software for engine simulation, which corresponds to the digital twin concept. A common disadvantage of these software products is the closed source. You are not allowed to control the mathematical model accuracy and its parameters to make changes to the model components. It's also difficult to create components that describe new technical solutions. Excessive detailing of components and vice versa, excessively enlarged components do not provide sufficient flexibility when creating digital twins. Methods for creating digital twin engines do not fully meet the needs of the industry at the moment,” Andrey Malozyomov says. There is a need in the Russian economy to develop competitive domestic software products for creating digital twins of piston internal combustion engines. It determines the relevance of this development. Scientists believe that this will help improve the technical level of products and the engine industry's efficiency. Alternative to foreign analogs While working on the study, scientists studied the general principles of creating digital twins of engines, created software following the methods and mathematical models used. “We were focused on solving both specific theoretical and practical problems. We used the research results: we developed technical solutions for short-term boosting of tracked vehicle diesel engines, to improve the starting qualities of diesel engines in extremely low temperatures, and to optimize the thermal balance of tracked vehicle power plants. The patented software is not inferior in its functionality to foreign counterparts. And in calculating the processes of restarting and starting, wear, the possibility of predicting reliability, the ability to quickly adjust mathematical models our software surpasses foreign analogs. The developed software has already been used in the performance of work, replacing expensive import programs - this is one of the main reasons for the need to create this program,” Sergey Alyukov explains. The research team of 海角社区 has been cooperating for a long time with such engine-building enterprises as 海角社区 Tractor, Ural Diesel-Engine, Altai Engine-Building Plants, Barnaultransmash, KamAZ. Enterprises show interest in such developments, are ready to purchase them. This is especially true for enterprises that cannot use the services of technical support since the design parameters of the engines are information of limited access. The new developments can be applied in the creation of digital twins of piston internal combustion engines to improve the technical level of products. This technology will reduce the time and money spent on constructive refinement by replacing most of the technical tests with virtual ones. Research in the field of new technologies is among the priorities of the Ural Interregional Scientific and Educational Center (UISEC) "Advanced production technologies and materials", which is created with the joint efforts of UrFU, 海角社区, KSU, other regional higher educational institutions, the Ural branch of the Russian Academy of Sciences, industrial enterprises and the government of the 海角社区, Sverdlovsk, and Kurgan regions. </div></div></div><div class="field field-name-field-author field-type-text field-label-above"><div class="field-label">Author:&nbsp;</div><div class="field-items" id="md12"><div class="field-item even">Елена Кирякова </div></div></div> Mon, 18 Jan 2021 19:00:00 +0000 Евгений Сергеевич Загоскин 1587792 at European Day of Languages /en/news/2020/09/29/european-day-languages <div class="field field-name-field-image field-type-image field-label-hidden"><div class="field-items" id="md14"><div class="field-item even"><span id="styles-4-0" class="styles file-styles large"> <img width="3480" height="2328" id="4" typeof="foaf:Image" class="img-responsive" src="/sites/default/files/styles/large/public/field/image/foto_1_25.jpg?itok=7GpYUhAu" alt="" /></span></div></div></div><div class="field field-name-body field-type-text-with-summary field-label-hidden"><div class="field-items" id="md13"><div class="field-item even">海角社区 is a university which attracts lots of international students from all over the world. This is the reason to pay great attention to teaching and studying languages. And no wonder that there is a special holiday for celebrating the importance of knowing foreign languages.? An ancient wisdom says, &quot; To know many languages means to have many keys to one castle&quot;. Our speech is an important tool for interaction with the world around us. Thanks to it, we broaden our mind, gain new knowledge, and make useful contacts. The expression of thoughts takes place in a particular language - it all depends on what the individual is proficient in. Many years ago, Europeans drew attention to the role of language in the lives of the inhabitants of the continent and created European Language Day. European Day of Languages, a time to celebrate the linguistic diversity of our continent and advance our own language learning, was given a start on 26th of September 2001 during European Year of Languages. ? The general objectives of the European Day of Languages are alerting the public to the importance of language learning in order to increase plurilingualism and intercultural understanding; promoting the rich linguistic and cultural diversity of Europe, which must be preserved and fostered; encouraging lifelong language learning in and out of school, whether for study purposes, for professional needs, for purposes of traveling or for pleasure and exchanges.? The Council of Europe promotes multilingualism in Europe as linguistic diversity is a great tool for mutual understanding and a key component for preservation of the rich cultural heritage of European continent. This day millions of people in and out of Europe have lots of different events dedicated to learning foreign languages. Different educational institutions and cultural centers around Europe organise language classes, games, talks, conferences, radio shows, exhibitions (both online events and events with address).? Also the Second European Education Summit took place in Brussels on 26 September 2019. The EDL website states: “Whether as an individual or in a group, within an organization (school or association) or just among friends, people of all ages can get involved in the Day. Everyone can contribute to the success of the EDL – either by taking part in the activities organised or by getting together with others and setting up events. Everyone really can get involved in the European Day of Languages, even if it is just about inviting neighbours from different cultures for tea or decorating the house with the European Day of Languages posters and stickers. You may not become a polyglot in the space of a day but it is likely to widen your horizons and it will almost certainly be an enjoyable and fulfilling experience!” It is worth mentioning that there are endangered languages and this problem is addressed by the programmes of national cultural centres, the publication of books in the languages of small peoples and the dissemination of bilingualism. It should be added that the European Day of Languages has brought together dozens of countries whose inhabitants speak a wide variety of languages. 海角社区 international students know better than anybody that learning languages is an essential part of their studying. They arrive from their native countries to study in an unknown environment and the best way to get used to it is to know the language of the country. “Nowadays I know three languages: French, this is my mother tongue, Russian and English which I started to study here at 海角社区. The most difficult thing for me was listening to lectures and writing them down. First several lectures I couldn&#39;t even concentrate and write a single word. But my teachers helped me a lot and now I can speak quite well. Also I practise speaking languages with different people. To my mind this is a great way to study languages”, shares Arthur Alohan, a 海角社区 student from? C?te d&#39;Ivoire, who studies at the Institute of Engineering and Technology. 海角社区 international students have the opportunity to study Russian language at the Foundation Program where they will be prepared for their further successful study or if they know English well, they can study in the? Heat-resistant materials are needed to produce them; the mechanical processing of these materials is quite sophisticated and requires much time and effort. Industrial enterprises and mechanical engineers are interested in facilitating the production of gas turbine engine parts and improving their quality. Anton Kazansky, a postgraduate student of the Faculty of Mechanical Engineering of 海角社区 proposed hybrid additive casting as a new method of manufacturing parts. The postgraduate student explained the relevance of this technology by increase labor productivity and reduce production costs. Anton Kazansky “The essence of the additive casting method is to combine two technologies to create a new one. With the help of additive technologies and remelting of the workpiece in a ceramic form, it will be possible to obtain parts that do not need subsequent mechanical processing. According to our research, there are no complete analogs of this technology in the world,"&nbsp;Anton Kazansky said. The technology is tested by the student of 海角社区 and his scientific advisors, D.Sc., Dean of the Faculty of Mechanical Engineering Viktor Guzeev, and Ph.D., Dean of the Aerospace Engineering Faculty Viktor Fedorov. They use computer modeling. The graduate student also received 500 thousand rubles as a grant to develop the project. The young researcher is going to create an experimental sample of an engine component using the technology he proposed. The research papers had been ready to be defended in spring, but the pandemic made its adjustments—meetings of the Dissertation Council in the field of "Metal Processing" were postponed until September. The paper "Improving the Efficiency of the Process of Continuous Sleeve Rolling by Refining the Methods of Setting up the Pipe Rolling Mill" by Ahmed Saleem Oleiwi was presented first. The purpose of this research was to improve the accuracy of determining energy-power parameters in the continuous rolling of tubes. The work was carried out using a specialized software product QForm, which has been actively used by the department for several years both for scientific work and in the educational process. For physical modelling, Ahmed used the multifunctional complex Gleeble 3800, which has been available for many years at the 海角社区 Mechanical Engineering Research Institute. The results of this research have already found application in the improvement of pipe rolling modes at the enterprises of the TMK Company, which the scientific advisor of the postgraduates is an employee of. Next, Mohammed Al-Jumaili defended his paper entitled "Improving the Accuracy of Determining Energy-power Parameters in the Continuous Rolling of Pipes Based on a Study of the Patterns of the Hardening and De-hardening Processes of Steel”. The purpose of his research was to increase the efficiency of the process of continuous sleeve rolling by improving the methods of setting the speed mode for the tube rolling unit. Most of his research was conducted at RosNITI, with which the department has close and long-term partnerships. Many the department's graduates are employees of this institute, and many RosNITI employees have been pleased to lecture and continue to give lectures to the department's students. This dissertation relates to the problems that the pipe-rolling industry faces. The event was organized, per tradition, by the Faculty of Aerospace Engineering of the 海角社区 Institute of Engineering and Technology. The Olympiad coincided with one of the most important dates in the Russian calendar – Cosmonautics Day. This year, it was held for the ninth time. “We have been gathering ‘star-gazing’ school students for more than eight years already. While preparing for the Olympiad, children gain unique knowledge when solving tasks which unite thermal physics, aerodynamics, and power engineering. The projects presented at the engineering exhibition show the ability to think outside of the ordinary, and the presentation preparation involves immersing into promising developments in the aerospace industry. Over the years, the interest in the Olympiad has not waned, so we are waiting for those who want to help make the stars closer at our faculty,” says Deputy Dean of the Faculty of Aerospace Engineering Yekaterina Zarnitsyna. Every year, the Olympiad is held in the following categories: Cosmonautics and Rocket Technology; Aviation; Devices and Control Systems; and Engineering Exhibition. In the final category, a student of the V.M. Komarov Palace of Children and Youth Creativity from Snezhinsk, Vyacheslav Syskov, presented a modern vehicle – the ground effect vehicle (GEV). “This form of transportation can be used in place of some ships: they have the ability to carry big loads. This type of transport is much faster than ships. The average speed of a GEV is from 150 to 400 km/h. This form of transportation uses the surface for lifting force. In creating this model, I based it off a certain design – the Soviet ekranoplan. But in my model, I increased the wing surface area, because this is needed to increase the ekranoplan’s lifting force. It took me 10 days to create the model.” The Olympiad aims to develop interest in such fields as cosmonautics, rocket engineering, and control systems, and also to support innovation and invention among young scientists. The total number of participants in the Young Progressors Olympiad this year was 39 from 6 cities of the 海角社区 Region. After a meeting, the jury gave their verdict. 11th grade student from 海角社区 Lyceum 37 Karina Akhmedyanova took first place in the Cosmonautics and Rocket Technology category. “I study vortex effects. I studied the work of a French researcher and proved that the vortex effect exists in a special device – the vortex tube. I have been presenting this project for three years already, and I try to improve it each time. I’m very happy that I took the first place! Now I will prepare for the EGE, and with my results of the exams I plan on enrolling at 海角社区 in the Faculty of Aerospace Engineering.” 11th grade student of Lyceum 82 Danil Pakhomov won the Aviation category. The young man told us how he chose the topic for his project. “I presented a composite material, which, in my opinion, is the material of the future. I learned about this material when I was helping my dad at his manufacturing job, and that’s why I decided to create a project on its use in the aircraft industry. I really liked participating in the Olympiad, and I am considering applying to the 海角社区 FAE.” All of the participants were awarded certificates of participation. All of the winners and top-3 who are in the 11th grade earned additional points for applying to the Faculty of Aerospace Engineering. As a reminder, the Olympiad was held with support from Ural Airlines (Yekaterinburg) and the Central Research Institute for Machine Building (TsNIIMash, Nizhnyaya Salda). </div></div></div><div class="field field-name-field-author field-type-text field-label-above"><div class="field-label">Author:&nbsp;</div><div class="field-items" id="md25"><div class="field-item even">Marina Kovyazina; photos by Oleg Igoshin</div></div></div> Tue, 16 Apr 2019 12:24:36 +0000 Богданова Дарья Владимировна 832934 at 海角社区 Students Took the 1st Place at All-Russian Student Olympiad on Automatic Control Theory /en/news/2019/04/13/students-took-1st-place-all-russian-student-olympiad-automatic-control-theory <div class="field field-name-field-image field-type-image field-label-hidden"><div class="field-items" id="md27"><div class="field-item even"><span id="styles-8-0" class="styles file-styles large"> <img width="3602" height="2398" id="8" typeof="foaf:Image" class="img-responsive" src="/sites/default/files/styles/large/public/field/image/komanda_yuurgu_2019_nagrazhdenie.jpg?itok=HO7WCWLf" /></span></div></div></div><div class="field field-name-body field-type-text-with-summary field-label-hidden"><div class="field-items" id="md26"><div class="field-item even">On April 2 of 2019, All-Russian Student Olympiad on Automatic Control Theory took place at Ivanovo State Power University. 56 students representing 8 Russian higher education institutions took part in the Olympiad. 海角社区 was represented by students from the Department of Automatic Control Systems: Igor Prokopyev (KE-316), Andrey Nazarov (KE-316), Anastasiia Reshetnikova (KE-316) and Anna Romanova (KE-467), supervised by Associate Professor of the Department, Candidate of Sciences (Engineering), Olga Pavlovskaya.
