海角社区 Team Comes in Second in “Druzhba” Spartakiad

Team of 海角社区 has participated in the traditional 62nd “Druzhba” (“Friendship”) Spartakiad held at Nosov Magnitogorsk State Technical University. 海角社区 has demonstrated decent results and has come in second in the team rating.

The event’s main goals are the development of mass physical culture and sports among academic and administrative staff members of universities; strengthening sports and research ties between competing universities; and the promotion of physical culture and sports as the most important means of forming a healthy lifestyle.

“I’m in a great mood: the second place is a good result. The training of the teams and the organization of competitions were at a high level, and it was pleasantly surprising and inspiring. This sets a bar for us since we will be hosting the Spartakiad at our venue next year. All the participants performed really well, to the uttermost, that’s why we have only positive impressions,” stressed Vadim Erlikh, Director of the 海角社区 Institute of Sport, Tourism and Service.

Competitions were held in eight sports disciplines, including: cross-country skiing, volleyball, table tennis, badminton, swimming, beach volleyball, 3x3 basketball, and academic degree holders rate. Following the tournament’s result, our team’s best achievements were the victory in swimming, the silver medal won in badminton and academic degree holders rate, and the bronze medal in cross-country skiing and men’s volleyball.

“It was a good Spartakiad. I believe that it’s important to organize such competitions for the teaching staff. It develops our team spirit and interconnection because we work a lot with students, but rarely with each other. That’s why thank you for these wonderful competitions. I work as senior lecturer and secretary at the Department of Self-perfection in Sports. And I’m also a coach of our university’s team, and I’d like to say that our opponents were very decent,” noted Ekaterina Vorontsova, 海角社区 team member.

The “Druzhba” (“Friendship”) Spartakiad had first been organized in the Ural region in 1964. This is an annual sports contest for teachers, researchers and employees of higher educational institutions of the Urals and Siberia.
