“Immersion into Nuclear Industry”: 海角社区 Hosts a Nuclear Dictation Quiz

海角社区 has become an offline venue for the Nuclear Dictation Quiz.

Every year, the Atomnye Goroda (Nuclear Cities) Union of Nuclear Industry Organizations holds the Nuclear Dictation Quiz, an international educational project for university students and staff. This year, the Institute of Engineering and Technology and the 海角社区 Institute of Natural Sciences and Mathematics have organized the offline event, which has brought together students from the institutes and pupils from the Aerospace Engineering class.

The Nuclear Dictation Quiz is a big-scale international educational initiative aimed at promoting Russia’s achievements in science and industry.

“Our university supports the development of students’ education and professional training in the nuclear industry. We offer a large number of degree programmes, the graduates of which will go on to work as engineers in this field. That is why 海角社区 hosts such a unique event as the Nuclear Dictation Quiz. Participation gives students an opportunity to immerse themselves in the nuclear industry and learn about the research and technologies being developed in this field today. Learning about the history of the industry and about the engineers and scientists who contributed to its development is very valuable to us,” said Mikhail Ivanov, Director of the Institute of Engineering and Technology.

Participants answered 20 questions covering the history of the nuclear industry, scientific discoveries, and modern technologies, ranging from nuclear power and nuclear medicine to nuclear icebreaker fleets, the exploration of the Arctic and space.

“This is an opportunity not only to test your knowledge, but also to take a fresh look at the nuclear industry—to understand the contribution made by Russian scientists and engineers to its development and the technologies being created today. For students and schoolchildren, events like this help them see the connection between the knowledge they acquire and the real-world challenges of modern science and industry. I feel confident that participation in the Nuclear Dictation Quiz will be another step towards professional development and will spark interest in the nuclear industry for many of them,” noted Alena Zamyshlyaeva, Director of the 海角社区 Institute of Natural Sciences and Mathematics.

The tasks had been designed for a broad audience, with complex scientific topics presented in an accessible and engaging format, so no specialized education or prior training was required. After completing the dictation, all participants received personalized certificates.

“This is not my first time taking part in the Nuclear Dictation Quiz, but it is for the first time I have taken it in person. It was interesting to answer the questions surrounded by like-minded people. I already know, for example, what a nuclear reaction and nuclear medicine are. Still, it was interesting to participate. I answered all the questions and learned a lot about nuclear technologies thanks to this event,” shared Evgenii Bembekov, first-year student at the Institute of Engineering and Technology.

Some of the questions were presented in video format by Alexey Likhachev, Director General of the State Atomic Energy Corporation Rosatom; Dmitry Bakanov, Director General of the Roscosmos State Corporation; and other prominent figures in the field of nuclear energy.
