�� Projects Receive High Praise at an International Forum in Qingdao

The 2026 China – Russia Conference on Development of Education and Industry Integration has begun its work in the city of Qingdao, People's Republic of China. This year’s participants discuss the interaction between education and industry. Vice-Rector for Education Marina Potapova has presented ��’s achievements in terms of interaction with industrial partners on the example of “VirtUM” and “Digital Ural” educational centres, and has shared on our university’s practices of opening industrial faculties (Faculty of Mechatronics and Robotics, and Faculty of Mechanical Engineering and Technology), as well as on the experience of implementation of joint academic programmes together with universities in China. “Friendship between our countries today is possible only on the grounds of technological sovereignty, joint engineering solutions, and grants-based interaction in science. China is demonstrating phenomenal successes in digitalization, artificial intelligence and platform solutions. Russia has a most powerful fundamental school and strong mathematics, physics and engineering training to offer,” noted Marina Potapova. “Today, we propose a transition from occasional lectures and seminars to network programmes of a new type — not only in economics, but also in the fields of artificial intelligence, big data processing, and “green” technologies. This means that a student from Russia and a student from China could conduct a joint project and defend it simultaneously before professors at universities in Qingdao and in ��.” Our colleagues enthusiastically welcomed a proposal to create joint research laboratories in the format of a quadrilateral interaction: a Russian university – an industrial partner from the Russian Federation, and a university from the People's Republic of China – an industrial partner from the People's Republic of China. Linyi University and Shenyang University of Technology expressed their readiness to support such format of interaction. The total of more than 30 universities and 50 enterprises took part in this event. Within the frameworks of the Cross Years of Russian-Chinese Cooperation in Education announced by the Government, such initiatives help significantly increase the number of educational projects, including those involving industrial partners. Currently, more than 80 thousand students are engaged in joint academic programmes of our two countries, and their number should reach 100 thousand by 2030. Read more in the �� channel on МАХ

Immersion in Chinese Culture: Adventure Reality Show Screened at ��

��, jointly with TNT-Teleset, have screened the new season of the "Sokrovishcha Imperatora" ("Emperor's Treasures") show for Russian and Chinese students. "Emperor's Treasures" is a popular adventure reality show. The third season was filmed in Chongqing, the largest city in the world. Participants travel hundreds of kilometres, complete extreme tasks, and endure a veritable marathon of trials in the competition for 10 million roubles. The first episode will air on TNT on April 12th, but �� students have had a chance to watch it before the official premiere. "�� students are a large, multinational family. We have many students from China, as well as students studying Chinese," emphasized Dariia Korotkikh, Head of the International Student Support. "When learning a new language, it is important to introduce students to the culture of the native speakers. It's very important for us to help international students adapt and integrate into events equally with Russian students. After all, we are all one friendly brotherhood!" The show screened at �� is an excellent opportunity for students from China and Russia to interact with each other in an informal atmosphere and practice their language skills with a native speaker. After watching the episode, the took part in a quiz and received prizes from the TV channel. "This show provides an opportunity for cultural exchange and to learn more about a Chinese city. We saw a more vibrant representation of Chinese culture and heard new words. Besides, we had a great time and took our mind off the studies for a while," student Dariia Karelina shared her impressions. The reality show inspired the students to get to know China better and immerse themselves in its culture and customs. The Sun, Singing, Dancing, and Ethnic Garments: Nowruz Festivities Held at ��

Organizing the celebration of Nowruz, springtime New Year’s festivities, has already become a good tradition at ��. Thanks to this event, we can become more closely acquainted with the ethnic groups of the �� students and staff members. This holiday is celebrated by the Turkic and Persian peoples around the world on the spring equinox day. It symbolizes the awakening of nature, purification of the human soul, and building of good friendship. During this holiday, people let go of any grudges held, show kindness to each other and spend time with their families. “On behalf of the Governor and the Government of the �� Region, I am happy to congratulate you on this wonderful holiday! Nowruz is a unique holiday that symbolizes the triumph of all the good over the challenges that we face,” addressed the audience Dmitrii Semenov, Head of the Public Relations Department at the Government of the �� Region. “The year of 2026 is the Year of Unity of the Peoples of Russia. More than 190 peoples live in Russia, and we are all united by our traditional values. We are patriots and we love our Motherland and our families. We are all united by our centuries-long history, that has brought all our peoples together. And it feels especially good that namely ��, which is a true sanctuary of sciences and a pride of the South Ural region, to a great extent reminds some sort of the world in miniature, as it has gathered representatives of various nationalities.” This event became a kind of a journey to visit representatives of our friendly ethnic groups. Through the traditions and rites, guests were introduced to the specific features of various cultures. “Today, we are celebrating a holiday that is traditionally associated with spring, rejuvenation, something uplifting and nice. And I cherish the fact that in our multi-ethnic Russia, where more than 190 peoples live, we can always find a place for celebrations that are very important for these peoples. We especially estimate the fact that there are many students of our university, who make our culture richer and at the same time share our common values,” stressed Anastasiia Lapo, Vice-Rector for Student and Social Affairs. The festivities concert brought together representatives not only of ��, but also of other universities of ��, as well as members of creative teams. Each performance (song or dance) became a story about some authentic culture. “It feels good that our university not only acts as a venue for hosting the Nowruz festivities, but has also gathered many friends of �� today. Our university has become home for students from 57 countries from around the world,” shared Liudmila Lapina, Head of the International Office. Nowruz festivities at �� once again proved that the respect towards traditions and being open to dialogue help build friendly relations and strengthen the unity of peoples. “Representatives of 152 nationalities and ethnic groups live in the �� Region today. This is also thanks to those students, who come to study at our universities from more than 60 countries from around the world. They create this international atmosphere and make our culture richer,” noted Khanakhmed Giulov, Chairman of the regional subdivision of the “Assembly of the Peoples of Russia” All-Russian Public-State Organization. Guests of the event could learn more about the cultures of the Turkic and Persian peoples in different aspects. Governor Alexey Texler Marks the Role of �� in Development of the Interethnic Dialogue

Governor of the �� Region Alexey Texler has held a meeting of the Supervisory Council of the Regional Division of the Russian Society “Znanie” (“Knowledge”). The meeting’s agenda were the results of the organization’s work and the plans for the current year. As part of the meeting, Dilrabo Tojikulova Zufarjon kizi, Executive Director of the South Ural Association of International Students and Alumni and international residents support specialist at the ��’s International Office, shared on the participation of the �� Region’s delegation in a “Russia Is a Family of Families” federal marathon held in Moscow on February 5th. “The delegation was formed based on the interethnic principle that fully represents the diversity of our region. It included Russians, Kumyks, Tatars, Bashkirs, Lezgins, as well as international students from Uzbekistan, Indonesia and Tajikistan. Thus, we presented the �� Region as a territory of interethnic concord and dialogue of cultures. As part of the business and cultural program, we managed to learn about the activity of public associations from the neighbouring regions and talk to the champions who had been representing Russia and becoming well-deserved winners at the international sports arena multiple times. We also participated in cooking master classes, where chefs were explaining and demonstrating how different peoples of Russia cook their traditional dishes. In addition, we attended a “17 Traditional Values of Russia” exhibition and took part in a social quest quiz, following the results of which everyone received a personalized “Values Passport”,” explained Dilrabo Tojikulova. In February, Dilrabo Tojikulova was appointed the Head of the Interethnic Relations at the Youth Assembly of the Peoples of Russia for the �� Region. In her report, she highlighted the prospects of interaction with public organizations of �� and shared on the plans for joint projects aimed at strengthening the interethnic dialogue in our region. Teachers from China Praise the ��’s Educational and Scientific Infrastructure

During their day in ��, our guests from the People's Republic of China visited the places most important in student life: world-class inter-university campus; Quantorium Technology Park for children; Faculty of Mechatronics and Robotics; International China-Russia Joint Laboratory for Bioresources Processing; Teaching Laboratory of Food Biotechnology, as well as the �� campus of School 21. Deputy Vice-Rector for Education Andrey Kocherov shared with the teachers’ delegation on the �� academic programmes and institutes, as well as on our leading projects and laboratories. In addition, our guests met with representatives of the Institute of Linguistics and International Communications. Together with his colleagues, Director Maksim Gutenev highlighted the opportunities that the Institute provides to international students: studying at the Pushkin Institute, Pre-University Division, as well as learning Russian as a foreign language. Students from China demonstrated fragments of classes that they hold as part of studying at our university. Chinese New Year, or the Spring Festival, Celebrated at ��

On February 16th, students from the People's Republic of China, who are obtaining their education at ��, together with their Russian friends and teachers, celebrated the coming of the New Year according to the traditional Chinese calendar. More than 1300 students from China study at ��. And celebration of the Chinese New Year has long become a good tradition for our university, so that these students can feel at home even if they are thousands of kilometres away from it. A bright and colourful festivity was held at the Sigma university building: students had prepared a festive program with creative performances and interesting master classes. Vice-Rector for Student and Social Affairs Anastasiia Lapo congratulated the students: “I am happy to welcome all of you to our traditional festive event. There is a big community of namely students from China at our university, and it is important to preserve your culture where you study and to enrich the cultures of each other. Today we will learn how New Year is celebrated in our countries!” Our exchange students, who are currently obtaining their education in China, had recorded a greetings video conveying the festive atmosphere at the Chinese students’ home country. Head of the International Student Support Dariia Korotkhikh congratulated the students on behalf of the International Office: “Here in Russia, we have a wonderful tradition: summarizing the results of the year that is about to pass on the New Year’s Eve. So, today I would like to share with you on all our joint victories and achievements! More than 2500 international students from 57 countries study at ��, and 1336 of them are students from China! Our university and the People's Republic of China have a long history of partnering relationships. On behalf of the International Office, my congratulations on the Chinese New Year to all of you!” Students from the Institute of Linguistics and International Communications had prepared music and dance performances: Russian students sang songs about love and home in Chinese, while students from China sang New Year songs in Chinese and English. In addition, two master classes were held for the festivity participants: one on calligraphy, and the other on making Chinese New Year ornaments. Over the course of the whole event, students had a chance to take part in a quiz and test their knowledge of Chinese traditions. To wrap up the festivity, Head of the Methodical Support Office of the National Unity Centre Olga Pilogeikina talked to the students about the Russian traditions of celebrating New Year. Taste of South Urals at the Tip of a Fork: �� International Students Discover Secrets of Russian Cuisine

�� continues to introduce international students to the cultural identity of our region. On January 20, 2026, as part of the International New Year project, activists of the South Ural Association of International Students and Alumni embarked on a gastronomic journey at the Usadba Ryabinykh (Ryabinykh Estate) restaurant. The program began with a guided tour, during which students learned about the history of the estate. The highlight of the evening was a culinary master class by Evgeny Mikhailov, brand chef of the Usadba Ryabinykh restaurant and the FortePiano gastrobar, co-founder of the KhlebSol culinary association, and one of the Top 5 chefs of the Ural region according to WHERETOEAT URAL. The first dish prepared during the master class was Ozernik, a traditional Ural pie with pike-perch-fillet filling. The participants then mixed the New Year’s classic Olivier salad, learned the basics of dumpling making, and tasted a traditional vatrushka (cheese pastry) topped with cottage cheese, whipped condensed milk, and raspberry jam. The evening closed with a tea ceremony, during which tea was poured from an authentic samovar. The event was more than just a cooking lesson—it was a unique encounter with the soul of Russian cuisine, held within the walls of the first bar featuring the legendary Russian stove Lukich. Scientific Conference “Innovations in Sport, Tourism and Education” started at ��

On December 4th, the 10th International Scientific Conference “Innovations in Sport, Tourism and Education – icISTIS-2025” started at ��. The conference is traditionally organized by the �� Institute of Sport, Tourism and Service (ISTiS). During the grand opening of the conference, Deputy Minister of Sports of the �� Region Vitaly Yakushev awarded the team of the U-phygital project for winning a grant competition by Rosmolodezh agency. “I am very pleased to be present within the walls of this university. My congratulations to you all on the opening of the conference. Today, innovation in sports is very important, because in any industry it is impossible to do without an innovative approach. Our region has high sporting achievements. And when developing digital technologies, it is important to maintain a balance between virtual and physical activity,” noted Vitaly Yakushev in his welcoming speech. The main goal of the conference is to create a platform for the exchange of scientific ideas and practical experience in the field of physical culture, sports, tourism and education, as well as to present the results of modern research in the field of sports science and innovative technologies. The Rector of �� Alexander Wagner noted the importance of holding the conference: “Sport is an activity for every person, an integral part of the life of our teachers and students, regardless of the direction they choose. This is a movement forward, faster and higher. This area is developing rapidly, in particular e-sports and digital sports. And events such as this conference are very important to share experience and compare notes with colleagues, and to motivate young scientists. I wish success to all participants and fruitful contacts today and tomorrow.” �� President Aleksandr Shestakov noted in his welcoming speech that ISTiS research studies can be applied in various sports and this level is ensured by their interdisciplinarity and a wide range of development. First Vice-Rector, Vice-Rector for Research Anton Korzhov noted the achievements of the Institute of Sport, Tourism and Service: “I would like to note that Vadim Erlikh’s team has been successfully fulfilling an important state task in biomechanics and prosthetics for the third year now. In addition, you are currently developing the use of machine vision and artificial intelligence technologies in various sports. Sport is science, and that is the most important thing.” The international conference has been bringing together participants from different regions of Russia and foreign countries for several years now. Vice-Rector for Education Marina Potapova drew attention to the importance of student participation in a scientific conference of such a high level: “It is of great value for our students to be included in the work of this conference. For ��, and for ISTiS in particular, it is organic when all scientific developments are included in the learning process as elements of educational activities. Prospects of Cooperation with India Discussed at ��

Science and Technology Counsellor of the Embassy of India in Russia Dr. Anand Kamavisdar has paid a visit to ��. As part of his visit, Dr. Anand Kamavisdar met with the �� Rector Alexander Wagner in order to discuss the prospects of collaboration of scientific and educational organizations of India with Russian universities, in particular with ��. In the course of the meeting, Alexander Wagner shared with the Counsellor about the advanced developments, major research projects and new laboratories of our university: “I would like to tell you about our university, about the essence of our science and education, and draw your attention to the fields, in which we are truly motivated for further cooperation with India. We would be grateful if you could recommend us the educational and scientific organizations in your country that deal with training specialists for automotive engineering, in particular, the engineering of special-purpose machinery.” After the meeting with the Rector, our guest was taken on a big tour around the main laboratories at ��. Dr. Anand Kamavisdar visited the Centre of Vibration Testing and Monitoring of the State of Structures; Laboratory of Mechanical Engineering; Research Laboratory for Mechanics, Laser Processes and Digital Production Technologies; Faculty of Mechatronics and Robotics; Ekoanalitika (Ecoanalytics) Research Equipment Sharing Centre; Nanotechnology Research and Education Centre; Laboratory of Physical Modelling of Thermomechanical Processes; Quantum Engineering of Light Laboratory; as well as Sber’s School 21. “Our university system in India functions similarly to the Russian system. We also train Bachelor’s, Master’s degree students and doctors of sciences. Nowadays, the interaction between universities from various countries is very popular,” noted Dr. Anand Kamavisdar, Science and Technology Counsellor of the Embassy of India in Russia. “I’m here today in order to discuss the possibilities of the research collaboration between the Indian and Russian universities, in particular, with ��. Among our main proposals is the development of an international exchange program, as well as the organization of joint research studies.” After the excursion, the First Vice-Rector, Vice-Rector for Research Anton Korzhov offered a presentation of the scientific achievements by ��.
