�� continues to introduce international students to the cultural identity of our region. On January 20, 2026, as part of the International New Year project, activists of the South Ural Association of International Students and Alumni embarked on a gastronomic journey at the Usadba Ryabinykh (Ryabinykh Estate) restaurant. The program began with a guided tour, during which students learned about the history of the estate. The highlight of the evening was a culinary master class by Evgeny Mikhailov, brand chef of the Usadba Ryabinykh restaurant and the FortePiano gastrobar, co-founder of the KhlebSol culinary association, and one of the Top 5 chefs of the Ural region according to WHERETOEAT URAL. The first dish prepared during the master class was Ozernik, a traditional Ural pie with pike-perch-fillet filling. The participants then mixed the New Year’s classic Olivier salad, learned the basics of dumpling making, and tasted a traditional vatrushka (cheese pastry) topped with cottage cheese, whipped condensed milk, and raspberry jam. The evening closed with a tea ceremony, during which tea was poured from an authentic samovar. The event was more than just a cooking lesson—it was a unique encounter with the soul of Russian cuisine, held within the walls of the first bar featuring the legendary Russian stove Lukich. International students had a chance not only to get a taste of the South Ural region but also take home a piece of its warmth and hospitality. Read more in the �� channel on MAX

On December 4th, the 10th International Scientific Conference “Innovations in Sport, Tourism and Education – icISTIS-2025” started at ��. The conference is traditionally organized by the �� Institute of Sport, Tourism and Service (ISTiS). During the grand opening of the conference, Deputy Minister of Sports of the �� Region Vitaly Yakushev awarded the team of the U-phygital project for winning a grant competition by Rosmolodezh agency. “I am very pleased to be present within the walls of this university. My congratulations to you all on the opening of the conference. Today, innovation in sports is very important, because in any industry it is impossible to do without an innovative approach. Our region has high sporting achievements. And when developing digital technologies, it is important to maintain a balance between virtual and physical activity,” noted Vitaly Yakushev in his welcoming speech. The main goal of the conference is to create a platform for the exchange of scientific ideas and practical experience in the field of physical culture, sports, tourism and education, as well as to present the results of modern research in the field of sports science and innovative technologies. The Rector of �� Alexander Wagner noted the importance of holding the conference: “Sport is an activity for every person, an integral part of the life of our teachers and students, regardless of the direction they choose. This is a movement forward, faster and higher. This area is developing rapidly, in particular e-sports and digital sports. And events such as this conference are very important to share experience and compare notes with colleagues, and to motivate young scientists. I wish success to all participants and fruitful contacts today and tomorrow.” �� President Aleksandr Shestakov noted in his welcoming speech that ISTiS research studies can be applied in various sports and this level is ensured by their interdisciplinarity and a wide range of development. First Vice-Rector, Vice-Rector for Research Anton Korzhov noted the achievements of the Institute of Sport, Tourism and Service: “I would like to note that Vadim Erlikh’s team has been successfully fulfilling an important state task in biomechanics and prosthetics for the third year now. In addition, you are currently developing the use of machine vision and artificial intelligence technologies in various sports. Sport is science, and that is the most important thing.” The international conference has been bringing together participants from different regions of Russia and foreign countries for several years now. Vice-Rector for Education Marina Potapova drew attention to the importance of student participation in a scientific conference of such a high level: “It is of great value for our students to be included in the work of this conference. For ��, and for ISTiS in particular, it is organic when all scientific developments are included in the learning process as elements of educational activities. Prospects of Cooperation with India Discussed at ��

Science and Technology Counsellor of the Embassy of India in Russia Dr. Anand Kamavisdar has paid a visit to ��. As part of his visit, Dr. Anand Kamavisdar met with the �� Rector Alexander Wagner in order to discuss the prospects of collaboration of scientific and educational organizations of India with Russian universities, in particular with ��. In the course of the meeting, Alexander Wagner shared with the Counsellor about the advanced developments, major research projects and new laboratories of our university: “I would like to tell you about our university, about the essence of our science and education, and draw your attention to the fields, in which we are truly motivated for further cooperation with India. We would be grateful if you could recommend us the educational and scientific organizations in your country that deal with training specialists for automotive engineering, in particular, the engineering of special-purpose machinery.” After the meeting with the Rector, our guest was taken on a big tour around the main laboratories at ��. Dr. Anand Kamavisdar visited the Centre of Vibration Testing and Monitoring of the State of Structures; Laboratory of Mechanical Engineering; Research Laboratory for Mechanics, Laser Processes and Digital Production Technologies; Faculty of Mechatronics and Robotics; Ekoanalitika (Ecoanalytics) Research Equipment Sharing Centre; Nanotechnology Research and Education Centre; Laboratory of Physical Modelling of Thermomechanical Processes; Quantum Engineering of Light Laboratory; as well as Sber’s School 21. “Our university system in India functions similarly to the Russian system. We also train Bachelor’s, Master’s degree students and doctors of sciences. Nowadays, the interaction between universities from various countries is very popular,” noted Dr. Anand Kamavisdar, Science and Technology Counsellor of the Embassy of India in Russia. “I’m here today in order to discuss the possibilities of the research collaboration between the Indian and Russian universities, in particular, with ��. Among our main proposals is the development of an international exchange program, as well as the organization of joint research studies.” After the excursion, the First Vice-Rector, Vice-Rector for Research Anton Korzhov offered a presentation of the scientific achievements by ��. �� Held a Presentation of Its Scientific Achievements for a Distinguished Visitor from India

Science and Technology Counsellor of the Embassy of India in Russia Dr. Anand Kamavisdar has paid an official visit to ��. At the meeting with our guest, representatives of our university discussed the prospects of the Russian-Indian research collaboration. At the presentation of our university’s scientific achievements, the �� First Vice-Rector, Vice-Rector for Research Anton Korzhov introduced our guest to the educational policy and the scientific-and-research infrastructure of the major �� university. Among the meeting participants also were the Head of the Research and Innovation Services Leonid Shipulin and the Head of the International Office Liudmila Lapina. “One of the main goals of our meeting with the Science and Technology Counsellor of the Embassy of India Dr. Anand Kamavisdar is the implementation of the joint research projects within the frameworks of the intergovernmental agreements,” explained Anton Korzhov. “These are the projects, which are being fulfilled with the support from the Russian Science Foundation on our part, and with the comparable funding on part of India. The Counsellor offers their help in establishing the contacts between the �� laboratories and laboratories from the leading universities of India. This will allow to most efficiently prepare the applications and form new points of growth at our university.” Director of the Institute of Engineering and Technology Mikhail Ivanov and Director of the Institute of Natural Sciences and Mathematics Alena Zamyshlyaeva shared with our distinguished guest about the specifics of the research studies in their fields and about their most promising projects. “Russia and India are ready to develop and strengthen the international cooperation at the platform of the �� “VirtUM” Centre for Top-level Academic Programmes in the Field of Artificial Intelligence [which is being implemented with the support from the Analytical Centre for the Government of the Russian Federation],” shared Alena Zamyshlyaeva. “Having created this big project, we are not planning on limiting ourselves solely by our university or Russia; we are interested in entering the international arena. In addition, Dr. Anand Kamavisdar has also expressed his interest in one more our development: Eco-environment of Industrial Agglomerations strategic project.” Mikhail Ivanov talked not only about the development of new materials, grades of steel and casting technologies that the �� Institute of Engineering and Technology is currently working on, but also uncovered the details of our collaboration with one of the major manufacturers from India. “Gallium Equipment company is a well-known manufacturer of tube mills for the iron and steel industry in India. They addressed our university for help in creation of new-for-India types of industrial equipment,” specified Mikhail Ivanov. “Thus, having combined our forces, we are developing an innovative metallurgical furnace, so that the foreign company could build its own integrated iron-and-steel works in the future. As we see it, this is the concept of the first-in-the-world plant that will encompass all the unique technologies and developments by the �� Institute of Engineering and Technology.”

Dialogue of Generations and Traditions: An Interfaith Meeting Held at ��

A meeting between students and representatives of traditional religious organizations of Russia “Traditional Faiths and Youth: The Search for New Meanings and Forms of Strengthening and Preserving Traditional Values in Society” was held at ��. The main topic of the event was the discussion of the spiritual and moral compass, its role in shaping society, and its significance for today’s youth. The meeting was moderated by the Head of the Department of Foreign Regional Studies, Political Science and Eastern Philosophy of the Faculty of Eurasia and East of �� State University Maksim Smirnov. Students from the leading �� universities, as well as staff members and representatives of public organizations, were present at the meeting. Along with the offline participants, students, youth activists, and members of the clergy from the cities of Yasinovataya, Kurgan, and Arkhangelsk, as well as representatives of the Republic of Ingushetia, joined the discussion online. Acting Head of the Department for Interaction with Public Organizations of the �� City Administration Pavel Magey offered a welcome speech: “I am happy that this discussion has become a good tradition. Every year we improve its quality, and more and more interested participants join the discussion. This demonstrates the high demand for a lively and open dialogue. This format of meetings allows us to hear truthful and verified information firsthand. The participation of representatives from other cities is equally important. The dialogue we are building today is aimed at preserving our spiritual values and fostering the unity of Russia’s youth.” The �� Vice-Rector for Student and Social Affairs Anastasiia Lapo welcomed the audience: “When we appeal to traditional spiritual and moral values, it becomes clear that they are universal. Concepts such as compassion, justice, honesty, and a strong family resonate in every person’s heart. Our children and students are raised on these values. And it does not matter whether they were born in the �� Region or came from abroad: these values truly unite us. Civil harmony is one of the key national priorities of the Russian Federation. This means that it is within our power to minimize negative manifestations and prevent the escalation of interfaith, interreligious, and intercultural conflicts. I feel confident that the ideas and approaches voiced today will resonate with you, and you will be able to share them with your friends and like-minded people. Together, we will build a common platform and a shared understanding of the meanings that are important to our society.” Religious leaders of our city attended the meeting with the students: Secretary of the �� Diocese; Father Igor, Archpriest of the Holy Trinity Church; and Chief Mufti of the Regional Muslim Spiritual Administration of the �� and Kurgan Regions Rinat Khadzhi-khazrat Raev. They spoke about preserving the identity of the Russian people based on traditional Russian spiritual and moral values, developing human potential, supporting civil peace, and protecting society from the spread of destructive ideology. “Today, in my opinion, the most important life goal for the younger generation is finding their place in life. I see that many are experiencing a difficult and sometimes painful search, and I sincerely sympathize with this. I am convinced that a person who is receiving an education and striving for development should not rest on their laurels. May God grant everyone the opportunity to find a career in which they can fulfil themselves: this is perhaps the most important thing. After all, it is first and foremost important when you feel needed by your own self,” noted Father Igor. The event has been held regularly since 2023 for students as a dialogue between representatives of traditional faiths and young people.

�� Welcomes a Delegation from a Chinese University

Within the frameworks of the close cooperation between Russia and the People's Republic of China, a delegation from Zhengzhou University of Aeronautics has paid a visit to ��. �� and Zhengzhou University of Aeronautics (ZUA) have been partners for a long period of time now. South Ural College, where about 1000 Chinese students learn Engineering and IT specialities, was created jointly with �� at the premises of the Chinese university. Studies at the College are organized in a network format, that is part of the disciplines are taught by �� as a participant-organization. Also, the best students of this joint College are selected to participate in the 2+2 project (2 years students study in China, and 2 years – at ��), and the 2+2+2 project (2 years students study in China, 2 years – at ��, and 2 more years they continue their studies in Master's degree programmes). As part of the visit, the delegation from the Chinese university met with the �� leaders: �� Vice-Rector for Education Marina Potapova, Deputy Vice-Rector for Education Andrey Kocherov, and Head of the International Office Liudmila Lapina. Colleagues thanked each other for efficient cooperation and discussed the plans for the future joint activities in the field of education development. "South Ural College functions in Zhengzhou and offers 4 specialities. Chinese students study there without the need to go to Russia, and our teaching staff members provide their guidance to students. But we still consider all of them as our students," shared Marina Potapova. "Currently, more than 800 students are studying at �� as part of the network interaction model, and about 30 have traveled here to study. Last year, the first Bachelor's degree students graduated within this network model. This visit of the ZUA staff members also implies the discussion of the possibility to extend the list of the academic programmes being offered." In the course of the meeting, the representatives of the two universities discussed a new stage of the cooperation between �� and ZUA: creation of joint research laboratories. In order to do that, the universities will choose a topic of interest to them both, and then will open laboratories for joint research and publications. Such interaction will facilitate the solving of global tasks in the selected sphere. The visit program is planned out for several days. The representatives of Zhengzhou University of Aeronautics will be taken on tour around our university and our city and will also meet the students of the South Ural College who are currently studying at ��. Besides that, an important part of the visit will be the meeting of our guests with the teaching and academic staff of our university for the discussion of our future cooperation.

New Horizons for International Cooperation: Delegation from a Chinese University Visits ��

A delegation from Southwest Forestry University, China, has paid an official visit to ��. The program included meetings with students and signing of a new agreement to expand our partnership. The �� Rector Alexander Wagner welcomed the guests: "It is an honour for us to welcome you at ��! Today, a wealth of opportunities awaits us, and we are glad that the development of joint research projects and the implementation of academic programmes have been identified as priorities. We are ready to actively promote new formats of collaboration between our universities in these areas." The Chinese university delegation included Vice-Rector He Xiahong, Deputy Secretary of the College of Machinery and Transportation Chen Jifei, Dean of the Graduate School Cheng Xiping, Dean of the Faculty of Civil Engineering Sun Weiwei, and Coordinator of the International Cooperation Department Wang Linqi. Joint work of �� and Southwest Forestry University had begun in 2016. Back then, agreements had been signed to implement joint academic programmes in the following areas: construction, mechatronics and robotics, transport, and electric power generation. The goal of the current visit is to further develop this cooperation. The parties also signed a networking agreement. "Today is a significant event for us: we have signed an agreement under which more than 200 students from Southwest Forestry University will simultaneously become students at ��. Our leading faculty will continue to teach at the Chinese university. We also agreed to expand our cooperation and explore new joint programmes in a similar format. Our partners are particularly interested in Master's degree programmes and training of highly qualified researchers," noted Marina Potapova, �� Vice-Rector for Education. Our guests from China were taken on a tour to the cutting-edge laboratories of the Faculty of Mechatronics and Robotics, a joint educational project between �� and the �� Forge and Press Plant. Later, the delegation visited the Supercomputer Simulation Laboratory and the "Construction" Educational Scientific Centre. The delegation particularly focused on meeting with Chinese students taking training at ��. The students shared about their experience of studying and living in ��, about their future plans, and discussed their participation in university projects. "We are delighted to visit ��, and it has been especially gratifying to see our students taking training here. They note the high level of education and share only positive impressions of their studies at ��. We also look forward to expanding joint research and strengthening cooperation between our universities," noted He Xiahong, Vice-Rector of Southwest Forestry University. The visit of the Southwest Forestry University delegation marked an important step in strengthening China-Russia relations in education. New agreements will enable students and researchers from both universities to conduct joint research, develop intercultural dialogue, and discover new opportunities for scientific and educational collaboration.

The Consul General of the People's Republic of China in Yekaterinburg Luo Shixiong paid an official visit to ��. The visit program included meetings with the university and regional leadership, university tours, and communication with Chinese students obtaining their education at ��. The visit began with an exhibition of scientific developments by researchers from ��. First Vice-Rector, Vice-Rector for Research Anton Korzhov spoke about our university's current key areas of research. Next, a working meeting was held between the Consul General and the Rector of �� Alexander Wagner and the Minister of Education and Science of the �� Region Vitaly Litke. The parties discussed the prospects for expanding partnerships in education and science. "It is a great honour for us to receive representatives of the friendly China. We highly value the strategic partnership and fraternal friendship between our countries and attach great importance to them. In the modern world, in the face of common challenges, it is more important than ever to strengthen trust, develop mutually beneficial cooperation and open new horizons through joint efforts. Joint research, academic exchange and implementation of innovative projects lay a solid foundation for the future prosperity of our peoples. We see great potential for expanding relations between �� and Chinese universities," said the �� Rector Alexander Wagner. Minister of Education and Science of the �� Region Vitaly Litke emphasized the importance of strategic development of partnership in the educational sphere: "The education and science system in our region is developing dynamically, and we are open to mutual partnership in a variety of areas. We are ready to continue active cooperation and expand it. Of particular interest to us are the creation of joint laboratories, development of academic student exchange, implementation of educational programmes and scientific projects. This will allow us to promote research and solutions on topics that are equally relevant for both China and Russia." More than 1200 students from China study in various fields at ��. Our university cooperates with 20 leading universities in China, implementing joint programmes and summer schools for studying the Russian language. Scientific cooperation is also actively conducted: over the past 10 years, more than 700 joint articles in the fields of nanotechnology, materials science, radio electronics, IT and healthcare have been published together with Chinese scientists. The China-Russia Joint Laboratory for Bioresources Processing is functioning, and big projects in the fields of medicine and biotechnologies are being implemented. During the meeting, the Consul General paid special attention to the meeting with students from China taking training at ��. The guys shared their impressions of life and study in ��, talked about their plans for the future and participation in university projects. "Promoting cooperation between our countries is one of the main missions. Education plays an important role in the development of bilateral relations between China and Russia. The visit to the capital of the South Ural region is aimed at getting acquainted with the achievements of the region, its socio-economic development, scientific and industrial potential. This will allow us to better understand the possibilities of interaction and determine the areas where we can be most useful to each other in our joint work," emphasized the Consul General of the People's Republic of China in Yekaterinburg Luo Shixiong. Consul General Luo Shixiong also visited the “Journey to China” photo exhibition at ��, which presented more than 70 works by famous Chinese photo artists depicting modern life and traditions of China. The visit wrapped up with a tour of the Faculty of Mechatronics and Robotics (a joint project of �� and the �� Forge-and-Press Plant) guided by the Director of the �� Institute of Engineering and Technology Mikhail Ivanov. Consul General Luo Shixiong could see modern laboratories and learn about the scientific projects being implemented by students and teachers of our university.
