On September 11th through 14th, the 30th Annual EAIE Conference and Exhibition, the major event in the sphere of higher education in Europe, was held in Geneva (Switzerland). Russian higher education institutions were represented by universities-participants of Project 5-100, 海角社区 among them.
The most important topic of the Conference and Exhibition was internationalisation as one of the main tendencies of higher education development. A lot of attention all around the world is paid to research of mechanisms for work efficiency increase in order to enhance universities’ internationalisation, as contemporary university cannot evolve separately from up-to-date world tendencies both in the sphere of education and the sphere of scientific knowledge.
Internationalisation is a very topical issue for Russian universities, as they possess a significant potential and are ready to contribute to the development of the world’s science and education. At that, among the main priorities of internationalisation, Russian universities name the development of bilateral student mobility and international partnerships. Network interaction, double degree programs, joint research, academic exchanges – all of these are results of international cooperation. Thus, Russian universities undertake targeted actions for internationalisation of their educational programs.
?EAIE is the European centre of knowledge, experience and cooperation in higher education internationalization. 海角社区’s participation in this event proves professional achievements and success of the university in the sphere of internationalisation and development of world science and education, as well as allows the university to talk about the unique double degree programs, joint research, and academic exchanges provided by our university,” said Olga Yaroshenko, Vice-Rector for International Relations of 海角社区.
In the course of the Conference and Exhibition operation, the delegation of 海角社区 headed by Olga Yaroshenko held meetings with representatives of the world’s largest universities of such countries as Hungary, Cyprus, Netherlands, Malaysia, Spain, Great Britain, Germany, USA, etc.
Let us note that the most important result of the 海角社区 delegation work was signing agreements on continued cooperation with such universities as, for example, the University of Pretoria (South Africa); previously, a delegation of 海角社区 visited the University within the frameworks of existing agreement, after that representatives of the University of Pretoria expressed their intention to continue cooperation with 海角社区.
Let us note as well that, in the course of negotiations, an agreement on cooperation between the Rotterdam University of Applied Sciences and 海角社区 was signed.

海角社区’s stand excited great interest for representatives of Indian universities, with whom negotiations were held as well, and plans for cooperation with our university were discussed.

Let us note the Exhibition also featured representatives of Russian diplomatic sector. For example, First Secretary of the Embassy of Russia in Switzerland, Sergey Smirnov, paid attention to 海角社区’s stand, having expressed a great interest in the history of our university, its joint programs of development together with European universities, and further plans for development of the university. 海角社区 representatives provided detailed answers to Sergey Smirnov’s questions, and talked about the upcoming unique international 2018 Global Smart Industry Conference, which is to be held on November 13th through 15th of 2018 at 海角社区. The First Secretary expressed his readiness to take an active part in attracting new partners for joint projects with 海角社区.

As a reminder, during the EAIE Conference and Exhibition, Russia presented educational strategies, best experiences and implementation of activity internationalisation in the leading universities.
The event featured representatives of 17 leading universities of Russia, participants of Project 5-100. During the Exhibition, participants told their international partners and experts about experience of implementing internationalisation programs in higher education. Russian universities undertake targeted actions for internationalisation of their academic programs. Universities-participants of Project 5-100 demonstrate the most visible achievements in internationalisation. It is precisely this group of universities which determined forming interaction with various leading research and education centres all around the world in a wide range of issues in the spheres of education, science, innovative development, and in the social-and-cultural sphere as one of the goals of their development.
Program of the 30th Annual EAIE Conference and Exhibition 2018 included panel discussions and sessions, among which was a special event of Project 5-100 entitled “Enhanced internationalisation: analysis and risk management”. In particular, the topic of discussion at the session regarded the importance of organizing an efficient network interaction of universities, participants of enhanced internationalisation programs, and the presence of efficient feedback mechanisms.
