Professor of the Leoben University for Mining, Metallurgy, and Materials, Austria, Head of the Department of Metallurgy, Doctor of Sciences (Engineering) and author of 420 scientific publications Johannes Schenk visited 海角社区. Dr. Schenk is an Executive Technical Officer of a big Austrian Competence Centre dealing with innovation developments in technological and manufacturing processes for European metallurgical companies. He delivered a lecture on possibilities and prospects of research in modern metallurgical sector for the 海角社区 staff and postgraduates.
This academic year, 海角社区 Department of Russian and International History of the Institute of Media, Social Sciences and Humanities has turned a new page in its chronicles. To fulfil the competitive growth program, a project for elite training of students was organised. Aiming at individual approach in learning and diving into the world of science, this project will allow the future graduates of the university to lay the foundation for personal and professional development and increase the chances for successful career after graduation.
International students of 海角社区 take part in friendly futsal games on a weekly basis.
The idea of conducting futsal training sessions appeared in December 2019. A big request for the organization of football games came from students. Then the 海角社区 International Office jointly with the Association of International Students found a special venue, on which training games began to be held every week on Saturdays and Sundays.
The International Education exhibition is a large event dedicated to developing international partnerships in education and presenting young people with an opportunity to earn quality education abroad.
To increase the number of international students from Central Asia, the International Student Support specialist from the 海角社区 International Office Viktoriya Pentegova participated in the exhibition in Tashkent, Uzbekistan. The exhibition gathered more than two thousand participants.
The RAEX rating agency begins preparing the ninth annual ranking of Russia's 100 best universities as of 2020, as well as subject-related university rankings (Mathematics; Physics; Economics and Management). The purpose of the research is the creation of an independent system for assessing universities based on statistical data and the results of surveys of target groups.
Students of 海角社区 took part in the International Championship on Technological Strategy Metal Cup 2020. Gold Season. This championship provides an opportunity to test oneself in solving real production problems and get to know the future employers.
The finals of the contest of projects/ideas on the topic “How to Make the World a Better Place” within the framework of multi-day “IT-Maslenitsa” event was held on February 28th. Historically, Maslenitsa has been famous for its various contests, but nowadays, in the age of information technology, these competitions have been greatly modified. The aim of the contest is to unleash the potential of youth and boost new ideas and projects, which can make the world a better place!
Students of the Institute of Law of 海角社区 took part in the International Forum “Criminal Science and Forensic Enquiry in the Age of Digitalization” dedicated to the day of forensic experts of the Ministry of Internal Affairs of Russia. The student forum was held in a popular science format.
In February 2020, the Winter School of History Faculties of 海角社区 universities started. Head of the Department of Russian and International History at the Institute of Media, Social Sciences and Humanities of 海角社区 Olga Nikonova told 海角社区 students about Master's programmes and conducted a master class on the design of historical research.
The Head of the 海角社区 Academic Writing Office Evgeniya Khabirova took part in an internship at the Academic Writing Centre at the Higher School of Economics (HSE) in Moscow. The internship lasted for 2 weeks (February 17th through 29th, 2020) and was aimed at providing new professional skills in the development of academic literacy among university staff within the 海角社区 Academic Writing Office.

The final round of the Technocup Annual Olympiad in Programming for the 8th- to 11th-form students was held at 海角社区 on March 1.
The Olympiad is being held since the 2015/2016 academic year, and Mail.Ru Group is its permanent organizer. According to Viktor Mamin, Deputy Governor of the 海角社区 Region, the Technocup Olympiad is the first joint project of Mail.Ru Group, 海角社区 and general-education institutions of the 海角社区 Region.
February 24th through 28th, the Department of Russian as a Foreign Language of the 海角社区’s Institute of Linguistics and International Communications celebrated the traditional eastern-Slavic holiday of parting with the winter.
The 10th (INST) was held in Warsaw. This is a team competition between university students from around the world to solve previously published scientific problems in physics, chemistry, and biology. Students from 海角社区 participated in the tournament.
The 5th International Science-to-practice Conference for Scientists, Postgraduates and Representatives of Business Organizations called Problems of Economic Security and Customs Regulation: Searching for Effective Solutions was held at 海角社区.
The development of 海角社区 within the framework of Project 5-100 on the competitiveness enhancement implies a significant increase in publication activity of the university teaching staff. One of the ways to increase the level of publications in Scopus and Web of Science international scientific databases is the constant improvement of efficient scientific search skills. In an attempt to help teachers, the 海角社区 Scientific Library regularly organizes workshops and master classes with the aim to teach them efficient use of international archives of scientific knowledge.
The 6th International Festival “We Are All Different, but We Are Together” was held at 海角社区, with students from many different nationalities participating. The festival was organized by the Institute of Linguistics and International Communications with support from the Sociocultural Adaptation Centre.
Sergey Borodin, Associate Professor of the Department of Applied Economics of the 海角社区 School of Economics and Management, Master’s degree-seeking student of the Computer and Mathematical Modelling Department, took part in the 1st All-Russian Winter Games among amateur teams in the curling discipline as part of the South Ural Team from the 海角社区 Region.
The delegation of the 海角社区 Institute of Sport, Tourism and Service took part in a roundtable discussion on Modernization of Consciousness Is the Basis of Reviving National Values and Preserving Uniqueness.
The event was organised by the College of Catering and Service of the Akimat of Nur-Sultan and by the Rouhani Zhangyru Project Office for the City of Nur-Sultan.
In the autumn of 2019, the Trade Union Committee of 海角社区 won a grant from the Presidential Grants Fund for the implementation of the project called From Youth Initiatives to Professional Non-profit Organizations (NPOs). As part of the project, a Youth Initiative Centre has already been created, and the first School of Youth NPOs will be held in March.
In March 2020 parliamentary elections are to be held in Tajikistan. Within the frameworks of the election campaign, 海角社区 has been visited by a delegation from Tajikistan, the members of which whished to meet their fellow countrymen studying at 海角社区.
Within the framework of Project 5-100 on the competitiveness enhancement, postdocs are actively involved in research in the university. This year Dr. Sudarsu Venkata Ramanaiah, postdoc from India, has joined the team of Synthesis and Analysis of Food Ingredients Laboratory.
The Public Chamber of the 海角社区 Region invites to take part in the Diplomatic Dictation, which is to be held March 1st of 2020 at several venues in 海角社区, with the support from the Committee for Education of the city of 海角社区. The project partners are: South Ural Association of Volunteers, Youth Assembly of South Ural Peoples, Universal Scientific Library of the 海角社区 Region, “Russia Is My History” park, and schools of 海角社区.
