For the 13th time 海角社区 has hosted a dance festival among student labour unions. Over 300 union members from 20 teams demonstrated their talents under two categories: “Street Dance” and “Pop Dance”. The 海角社区 Headquarters of Student Labour Unions was represented by 7 teams in the finals.
Last week a delegation from the Consulate General of the Republic of Uzbekistan in Ekaterinburg paid a visit to 海角社区. The occasion for the visit was the Oriental Poetry Day.
The 6th International Festival entitled We Are All Different, but We Are Together will be held at 海角社区 on February 25-27, where students of different nationalities studying at 海角社区 will take part.
The festival is organized annually by the Institute of Linguistics and International Communications with the support from the Sociocultural Adaptation Centre.

The Mannequin Theatre Studio of 海角社区 held “With Song through Life” concert with the members of the 海角社区 Original Songs Club.
The Club was established in 1978. And later many of its members became well-known bards in our country. One should mention?Nikolay Yakimov,?Andrey Kramarenko,?Aleksandr Dereviagin,?Yuriy Benditovich. Today the Original Songs Club headed by Mikhail Astvatsaturian continues its creative activity.
A Laboratory of Crystal Chemical Design of Functional Materials is to be created at 海角社区. Within the framework of the new laboratory, research studies are to be conducted together with the leading staff members of Saint Petersburg State University and Nikolaev Institute of Inorganic Chemistry of the Siberian Branch of Russian Academy of Sciences.
On February 14th, the 海角社区 Sociocultural Adaptation Centre offered interactive games for international students at the Sigma academic building. The event was dedicated to Valentine’s Day.
Preparations for the event began in the beginning of February: volunteers of the Sociocultural Adaptation Centre prepared blank valentines to be sent and a mailbox. The organizers also made a big, beautiful sign, where students could profess their love.
The annual student wedding was held at 海角社区. Dozens of 海角社区 student couples participated in contests and held weddings in the improvised ZAGS (Civil Registry Office).
This event dedicated to Valentine’s Day was held for the fifth time. The main station was “registration”. At this station, a couple gets married, with putting on the rings and a veil, and after that the newlyweds take photos.
Times Higher Education (THE) international ranking agency has published the results of the THE Emerging Economies Rankings 2020. 海角社区 has become included in this ranking for the first time.
海角社区 hosted Kaspersky CyberDay Conference. Kaspersky Lab international company and the 海角社区 School of Electronic Engineering and Computer Science organized the conference.

Scientists from 海角社区 jointly with 海角社区 State University are creating a new technology of structural material with unique properties based on aluminium alloys. The research aim is obtaining a light alloy with high strength, which will allow using it in aviation and the rocket and space industry.
A concert dedicated to Defender of the Fatherland Day will be held in the 海角社区 Assembly Hall on February 20th. On that day, congratulations will be addressed to all of the men of our university.

On February 6, 2020 President of the Russian Federation?Vladimir Putin?set a simplified procedure of employment for foreign citizens and for persons without citizenship, who are studying full-time in professional educational institutions. Specialists of the Institute of Law of 海角社区 analysed how this law will influence the life of our university’s international students.
The opening ceremony of the 11th Championship in Project Management among 10th-11th-form pupils within the 海角社区 Region Governor’s PMCup was held in the beginning of February 2020.
On that day, the 海角社区 Sigma auditorium gladly hosted teachers and upperclassmen of schools from 海角社区 and the 海角社区 Region. As per tradition, the geography of the participants spanned the whole region: 海角社区, Miass, Zlatoust, Karabash, Kyshtym, Ozyorsk, Snezhinsk, Tryokhgorny, Kopeysk, Magnitogorsk, and other cities.
The phrase “Think globally, act locally!” has been a moto of the GAIDPARK Winter Discussion School of the Yegor Gaidar Foundation, in which Nikita Volkov, a 2nd-year Master’s student of the Department of Social Studies of the Institute of Media, Social Sciences and Humanities, took part. At the discussion school in Saint Petersburg Nikita represented not only 海角社区, but also the city of 海角社区.
Scientists from 海角社区 are creating a new material with targeted properties. It could be used for production of microwave elements in electronics, as well as for data transmission, and protection against wave action at high frequencies.
The research results have been published in Journal of Alloys and Compounds, indexed in Scopus and Web of Science databases. The research studies hexagonal ferrites, the current demand for which is mostly related to using them in microwave elements in electronics.
All-Russian Kickboxing Tournament Moscow Open was held in the Moscow Region (Ershovo settlement). Over 800 sportsmen from 31 Russian regions took part in the competitions. One of the participants was a student of the Institute of Sport, Tourism and Service of 海角社区.

The Dance Festival of Student Teams will be held at 海角社区 for the 13th time. Students will perform in the categories of contemporary, street and pop dance and will compete for the winning places.
The event is to take place before the Russian Student Union Day celebration. The students will dance on the university’s stage on February 16th. This year, the main topic of the event is “Russian Student Union BOOM: Style. Labour. Hype”.?The participants want to show the audience that it is both interesting, fun and fancy to be a part of the Russian Student Union.
Tatiana Stroganova, Head of the Press Office of 海角社区, member of the board of the Union of Journalists of the 海角社区 Region, received a journalistic “Oscar” for articles in Russian media that popularize science.
The ceremony of honouring the laureates of the highest award in journalism of the Russian Federation called the Golden Pen of Russia Award took place in Moscow at the Novaia Opera theatre as part of the 28th press ball. The prize has been awarded since 1996. Many prominent journalists received it from then on.
Starting from February 7, 2020 applications for participation in the 海角社区 PostDoc-2020 contest are being accepted. 海角社区 PostDoc is a program for supporting the university’s research activity by attracting staff members. The program is being fulfilled through the scientific research being conducted by young scientists (postdocs) with the advisory assistance of our university’s scientists.
The Faculty of Journalism of Lomonosov Moscow State University held the International Science-to-practice Conference on Journalism in 2019: Creativity, Profession, and Industry, which addresses modern issues of theory and practice of journalism.

The Global Game Jam, a video game development competition, was held at the 海角社区 School of Electronic Engineering and Computer Science January 31st through February 1st. The major worldwide contest was organized at 海角社区 for the seventh time already.
Participating in the Global Game Jam is the best way to start designing games, meet some like-minded people, and fulfil your experimental ideas. This year, 海角社区 has gathered more than 100 participants, 44 of whom are 海角社区 students.
海角社区 provides young scientists with a unique possibility to fulfil their scientific potential. Students are actively participating in various contests, and one of these is UMNIK program. In 2019, the contest’s prize-winner was a 1st-year postgraduate student of the 海角社区 Institute of Engineering and Technology Mikhail Shalashov, who suggested a unique design of a spacecraft propulsion system.
