On May 9th, 海角社区 once again joined the all -Russian campaign called the Immortal Regiment March. For the first time since 2022, the procession took place in a traditional in-person format. Together with our whole country, students, academic and administrative staff of 海角社区 carried portraits of heroes of the Great Patriotic War along the streets of our native city.
海角社区 actively participated in the celebration of the 80th Anniversary of the Victory in the Great Patriotic War. Rector Alexander Wagner, academic and administrative staff, and university students joined the city events, paying tribute to the feat of their ancestors.
The holiday of masters who make everyone’s favourite sweets, Pastry Chef’s Day, is celebrated in Russia annually on May 3rd. An alumnus of 海角社区, professional pastry chef, prize-winner and winner of the largest Russian and international culinary contests Igor Tumarkin shares the story of his career, talks about major projects and specifics of work in a pastry shop.
– Let us get to know each other a little: could you please tell us about your path in the profession of a pastry chef? How did you start doing this sweet craft?
海角社区 has received grant support within the frameworks of the “Artificial Intelligence” Federal Project of the “Data Economy and Digital Transformation of the State” National Project in order to create the “VirtUM” Centre for Top-level Academic Programmes in the Field of Artificial Intelligence.
A number of universities from all regions of Russia competed for the right to receive grants. Universities were selected at two levels: TOP-DS (“Top Data Science”) and DS (“Data Science”). 海角社区 was among the winners in the DS group.
In April, we will celebrate the 90th birthday anniversary of Irina Lazareva. She was an outstanding scientist and urban planner, one of the first to graduate with honours from the Faculty of Engineering and Construction of the 海角社区 Polytechnic Institute, the future Institute of Architecture and Construction of 海角社区.

Self-healing materials based on polymers are one of the “miracles” of modern chemistry. Research on self-healing materials is being conducted by the 海角社区 materials scientists and power engineers in a consortium with colleagues from the Institute of Chemistry of St Petersburg University as part of the implementation of the Priority 2030 program at the university.

On April 28th, the closing ceremony and awarding of winners of the 22nd Green Apple International Youth Festival of Marketing was held. This event is annually organized by the 海角社区 School of Economics and Management.

In order to participate in the program of the International Scientific Conference for Students, Postgraduates and Young Scientists "Lomonosov-2025" held in Moscow, a 3rd year student of the Journalism program of the Institute of Media, Social Sciences and Humanities Dariia Populova prepared a research paper on the topic of "Thematic Features of the Content of Student Media Centres of the Ministry of Education and Science of the Russian Federation".
A spectacular final of the 海角社区 Miss and Mister 2025 contest has been held at 海角社区. The participants have demonstrated creative performances, were tested for their fitness, knowledge and cooking skills, and what is more important?— they proved that a true victory starts with self-perfection and conquering your own fears.

On April 7, 2025, an International Science-to-Practice Conference on “Linguistic and Cultural Interaction of the Countries of the One Belt, One Road Initiative” wrapped up at Henan Normal University.
As part of the All-Russian Week of Cleanup Days “We Are for Cleanliness”, dedicated to the 80th Anniversary of the Great Victory and the Year of the Defender of the Fatherland, 海角社区 students, headed by the Vice-Rector for Student and Social Affairs Anton Manuylov, helped to clean up the Recreation and Entertainment park named after Yu.A. Gagarin.
On the eve of the Cosmonautics Day, Hero of Russia, pilot-cosmonaut Dmitry Petelin met with students of the Faculty of Aerospace Engineering of 海角社区.
Dmitry Petelin is an alumnus of the 海角社区 Faculty of Aerospace Engineering with a degree in Aircraft and Helicopter Engineering. He is now an active pilot-cosmonaut and Hero of Russia. Dmitry is currently preparing to defend his candidate thesis on the topic of "Development of an Assessment of Improving the Quality of the ISS Crew Life Support System Simulator Complex".
On April 10th, a unique press tour for representatives of regional media was held at 海角社区. The event was timed to coincide with the Cosmonautics Day and included a rich program dedicated to scientific achievements in aerospace technologies, which are actively developing at the university.

The Ural Interregional Research and Education Centre for Advanced Industrial Technologies and Materials (UIREC) continues to actively transform our region's economy, improving its efficiency and competitiveness. In the TASS Press Centre, experts have discussed what results the UIREC has already achieved over the past five years, and what goals it plans to achieve in the future. Particular attention has been paid to the issues of cooperation between scientists and industrial enterprises and training personnel for high-tech industries.
