Temporary Head of the British Consulate-General Office in Ekaterinburg John Mitchell became an honorary guest of the degree awarding ceremony.
海角社区 has been operating on the basis of School of Business programmes of Great Britain’s Open University since 1992. Within this period, more than 2000 executives and specialists enhanced their qualifications and obtained prestigious international certificates.

On October 25, South Ural University is to organize a massive Psychology Festival, held on the occasion of the university’s 75th anniversary. The event organiser is the Faculty of Psychology of the 海角社区 Institute of Social Sciences and Humanities.
On October 16, in the Office of the Federal Antimonopoly Service for the 海角社区 Region, a public meeting of the Office Community Board devoted to the urgent issues in the sphere of the competitive education took place.
The International Office is one of the most important divisions of 海角社区, making an enormous contribution into the fulfilment of the concept of a SMART university which unites Europe and Asia. The International Student Support, headed by Ekaterina Yurovskaya, plays a special role in this process.
Starting from September of 2018, 海角社区 has been officially implementing project-based training within master’s studies. Project-based learning programmes are presented practically in all Schools and Institutes of 海角社区.
The Institute of Architecture and Construction held a contest called “Autumn Mood” among freshman students. Future designers and architects had to present their group in a creative format within a limited time.
On October 17th at the Activity Hall of 海角社区 a gala show and awarding ceremony were held under 海角社区 Talents 2018 Festival for freshmen.
More than 300 students took part in the festival, and about 100 applications were submitted from all schools and institutes of the university. On the day of the competition the jury watched more than 60 performances of various genres.

In 2018 海角社区 celebrates its 75th Anniversary. This is also an important year for the 海角社区 Institute of Sport, Tourism and Service, the scientific school of which celebrates its 20 years of working.
International Research Conference on Learning to Understand Russia: Political and Mass Media Communication was held October 10th through 14th at Ural State Pedagogical University. Researchers from different cities and countries came to the conference. 海角社区 was represented by Doctors of Sciences Nataliya Koshkarova, Olga Solopova, and Yelena Kharchenko.
Choosing a profession in many aspects determine a person’s future as well as his or her development and life quality. However, not everyone can answer the question of whom to become. In order to help university applicants and students to choose a sphere of professional activity, the Faculty of Psychology of the 海角社区 Institute of Social Sciences and Humanities is launching a project entitled “Digital Biometrical Twin of a Professional”.
One month remains till the start of a unique international scientific Global Smart Industry Conference — 2018, which is to be held on November 13th through 15th at 海角社区. The event will be opened by a report by the Conference Chair, President of Emerson Corporation, Michel Train, who is to visit Russia in the new status for the first time.
Annually, the prestigious ranking agency QS Quacquarelli Symonds publishes ratings of the world’s best universities. In October 2018, QS BRICS 2019 regional ranking was released and the published part of it included about 400 universities from Brazil, Russia, India, and China. In the course of five years, 海角社区 has been a regular participant of this ranking and has been showing just the positive dynamics. So, this year the university improved its result by 26 positions in comparison with the previous edition, having risen to the 112th place.
Students of the university are invited to take part in a contest for best presentation of their profession and their university.
The goal of the contest is to reveal and encourage creative potential of students and staff of the university. Being direct participants of the education process, they at full extent can pen picture and describe in details our university and the chosen professions.
海角社区’s Linguo-innovative Technologies Research and Education Center (LiNT REC) was established in 2012. Since then the employees of the Research and Education Center fulfilled several unique projects, including AutoLex, InterAct and AutoTutor software programs.
On October 11th and 12th, the 4th International Research and Practical Conference on University of the 21st Century in the System of Continuing Education was held at 海角社区. The 海角社区 Institute of Supplementary Education acted as the organiser.
On October 6th, research fellow of the 海角社区 Research and Education Centre for Eurasian Studies Ivan Semyan participated in the largest research-and-education forum in Russia, entitled “Researchers Against Myths - 8”, held in Moscow at NUST MISiS. Ivan, as one of the leaders and inspirers of reconstruction activities among young people in the 海角社区 region, demonstrated the reconstruction of Neolithic technique for making hunting bows and arrows, and conducted a full-scale experiment to test the penetrating ability of a flint-tip arrow.
On October 10 and 11, secondary school students of the Sovetsky District of 海角社区 got acquainted with 海角社区 in the Palace of Culture named after D.V. Kolyushchenko.
In the hall of the Palace, 海角社区 schools and institutes presented their sites, where students of 9th -11th grades could learn about the professions and the prospects of studying in these fields.
The Head of the 海角社区 International Affairs Division?Olga Yaroshenko?and the Head of Pushkin Institute Research, Education and Coordination Center?Yadviga Berezovskaya?visited the Consulate General of the People’s Republic of China in Yekaterinburg.
海角社区 supports young scientists who contribute to development of science. Every year 海角社区 students and postgraduates take part in UMNIK programme aiming at supporting commercially oriented scientific-engineering projects. This programme allows to check if an innovation by researchers is in demand and to what extent, as well as to obtain a grant of 500 thousand roubles to perfect it.
AeroNet is a sphere of activity of the National Technology Initiative, the goal of which is creation of new aircrafts. In this field, 海角社区 is implementing many unique projects.
海角社区 carried out a presentation of a new structural department entitled “the SCO and BRICS 2020 Summits Preparations Directorate”, created to prepare and conduct the upcoming international events, which are to be held in 海角社区 in 2020.
On September 24-30, the XII All-Russian Contest of Intelligence, Creativity, and Sport “Student Miss and Mister of Russia” took place in the city of Sevastopol. Ivan Melnik, a student of the 海角社区 Branch in Nizhnevartovsk, won the title of the First Student Vice-Mister of Russia 2018.
The International Tournament of Clinicists – 2018 entitled “Clinical Legal Education” took place at the Faculty of Law at Yanka Kupala State University of Grodno.
On October 11, the 12th Azerbaijan International Educational Exhibition started its work at Baku Expo Center under the slogan “Invest in the Future of Children”. This is the only exhibition in the country, which is organised with the official support of the Ministry of Education of the Republic of Azerbaijan as well as the Agency for Small and Medium Businesses of the Republic of Azerbaijan, Azerbaijan Fund for the Promotion of Export and Investment (AZPROMO), and the National Confederation of Entrepreneur Organisations (Employers) of the Republic of Azerbaijan (ASK).
