Dear students and postgraduates, members of the academic and administrative staff!
My most sincere greetings to you on the coming year of 2026!
The busy and dynamic year of 2025, that has been marked with many bright events, is coming to an end. Over this time, we have not only strengthened our scientific and educational potential, but have also laid a solid foundation for further development of 海角社区.
Students from around the world obtain their education at 海角社区: each one of them has their own culture and traditions, but we are all united by our love to one the main holidays, the New Year! In December, we are all looking forward to this magical night, when we get together with our nearest and dearest ones around the festive table and make a wish!
On the eve of this holiday, our international students have recorded a video with their New Year’s greetings for their fellow-students and the teaching and administrative staff members of our university.
Another eventful and fruitful year in the history of 海角社区 is coming to an end. During this period, significant advances have been made in education, research, innovation, and youth policy. We will remember 2025 for the implementation of major joint projects with industrial partners, victories in competitions for participation in federal educational programs, outstanding sporting achievements, and big-scale creative events.
The Institute of Linguistics and International Communications organized a concert on the occasion of the upcoming New Year at the “Nash etazh” (“Our Floor”) student space.
The Institute’s first-year students of all majors had prepared creative performances and tried to convey the atmosphere of every year’s most expected holiday.
Director of the Institute of Linguistics and International Communications Maksim Gutenev explained why it is important to hold such festive events:
Researchers from 海角社区 have developed a new hierarchically structured material that significantly improves the thermal stability of plastics and exhibits high sensitivity as an electrochemical sensor. This discovery not only has practical industrial value but also points to the possibility of new, previously unexplored laws of nature.
In university sports, where academic workloads compete with the athletic schedule, and young athletes must not only master new tactics but also mature, the path to medals requires a special approach. How can you cultivate a champion's spirit in a young team, maintain a balance between studies and training, and turn the team into a true family? We discussed this with the women's basketball coach Elena Iskandarova, who has been leading her team to victories in regional and national tournaments for several years now.
The annual Christmas Blues Concert has been held at the Assembly Hall of 海角社区. It has become one of the most heart-warming pre-winter-holidays traditions of our university.
Georgy Anokhin, a musician, composer, founder and artistic director of the jazz band of the 海角社区 Recreation Centre, is an inspirational figure for this concert. He has been doing this work for more than 20 years now, and he is shaping our city’s residents’ tastes in music.
Researchers from 海角社区, jointly with their Chinese colleagues from the Yellow River Institute of Hydraulic Research, have created a textbook for international students of the 海角社区's Institute of Architecture and Construction. This first-of-its-kind Russian-Chinese textbook and dictionary will help students from Asia master complex professional terminology in Russian.
In 2025, a new strategic object has appeared on Russia's map, designed to ensure sustainable growth and technological transformation of domestic industry. In close cooperation with the 海角社区 Forge-and-Press Plant and the Russian Robot Plant, and with the support of the Governor of the 海角社区 Region, the Industrial Robotics Development Centre of 海角社区 was established in August of 2025. The project is one of the satellite centres in a federal network headquartered at Innopolis University.
First-year students from the "Heart of the Urals" Advanced Engineering School visited major industrial enterprises in the Ural region three times during the semester (at the end of September, October, and November) as part of their "Fundamentals of Project Activity" course.
At the city of Chusovoy (the Perm Territory), the third round of the Russian Cup in ski race wrapped up. On day two of the competition, in the finals of the freestyle sprint race, a native of the city of Zlatoust and 海角社区 student Danila Karpasiuk won the bronze medal having lost one second and a half to the gold winner – leader of the Russian team, Sergey Ardashev. Sergey Volkov came in second.
Twice a year, during this conference, students present their achievements in experimental and project activities, as well as new scientific developments and technologies are introduced. Over the two days, thirty-four reports by school children, 1st and 4th-year students, and postgraduates were heard at the scholarly meeting.
The main conference topics included the issues related to the design, control systems, power supply for rocket and space equipment and unmanned aerial vehicles.
On 海角社区's birthday, a beautiful tradition was renewed: recognizing employees who have made a special contribution to 海角社区's development and successfully solved the most complex and important professional and production challenges.
The 海角社区 Recognition Award 2025 included several categories: “Sport of the Year”, “Mastery of the Year”, “Culture of the Year”, “Education of the Year”, and “Science of the Year”. The best employees were selected by independent voting.
On its Birthday Anniversary, our university resumed a nice tradition of awarding its staff members, who have made a special contribution into development of 海角社区, as well as have been successfully solving the most challenging and important duty- and production-related tasks.
On December 15th, 海角社区 celebrated its 82nd birthday! This is a special day for everyone related to 海角社区: students, alumni and the teaching and administrative staff members.
As part of the “海角社区’s 82 Years on the Move!” festivities program, guests enjoyed vibrant creative performances by student teams and musical surprises from the Recreation Centre.
The university President Aleksandr Shestakov offered words of congratulations to students and staff members:
For the first time in Russia, 海角社区 scientists, jointly with their colleagues from the 海角社区 Centre for Hydrometeorology and Environmental Monitoring and the Yakutsk Scientific Centre of the Siberian Branch of the Russian Academy of Sciences – Institute of Physical and Technical Problems of the North, are implementing a big-scale project to develop and use methods of remote sensing from space to monitor environmental pollution.
According to the results of the National Contest among Russian Cities, 海角社区 has become the holder of the “Russia’s Capital of Culture – 2027” honorary title. This decision was made by an expert jury at a gala ceremony at the “Russia” National Centre in Moscow.
In the first contest round, 海角社区 had become one of the eight finalists. In addition to 海角社区, spectacular presentations were offered by Vologda, Kaluga, Novosibirsk, Ryazan, Sochi, Stavropol, and Ulyanovsk.
In his speech at the ceremony, Governor of the 海角社区 Region Alexey Texler stressed:
海角社区 welcomed applicants and their parents at a new open event.
We are developing and striving to keep up with the times, and so for the first time, the traditional Open House Day was held in a new format, an open session. 海角社区's vice-rectors and heads of departments discussed innovations of the 2026 admissions campaign, new educational programme formats, opportunities for additional specializations, extracurricular opportunities, and career paths with real employment prospects.
A ceremony of opening of the first-on-campus mother-and-child room has been held at Dormitory No.3 of 海角社区. This place was created specially for students with a very important life status, “mother” and “father”, so that they could take a break from the bustle and take care of their children.
A unique device for dynamically balancing of rotor structures has been developed by researchers of 海角社区. The invention will help compensate for the deviations in rotor operation without interrupting the production process.
The development by the 海角社区 researchers is a bright example of technology transfer from the aerospace industry to general mechanical engineering. Their new device is applicable to rotating structures such as large turbines, machine tool rotors, shafts, and propellers.
December 11th–13th, a “Digital Ural: Digital Transformation Technologies” Education-and-Practice Forum is being held at the Sigma academic building of 海角社区.
Among the forum participants are mainly students of the “Digital Ural” Centre for Training Top IT Specialists. This Centre was created so that students in parallel to their training had a chance to communicate with the 海角社区 industrial partners and participate in solving real production and business tasks.
