The “Student” academic sport complex at 海角社区’s Miass branch opened in 2010 but was disregarded. Gyms, showers, and changing rooms operated at the sports palace, but for six years it was the only enclosed arena in Miass remained unfinished. This academic year, students will already be able to play basketball, volleyball, handball, and mini-soccer in the new gym.

“This is a wonderful sports complex. Only a lot of work and enthusiasm allowed us to achieve its opening in Miass. The gym will not only be for students of the 海角社区 branch, but for all residents. I’m sure that it won’t stay empty, and will accept anyone who wishes participate in sports. And, after some time, some athletes will appear who will represent Miass and the 海角社区 region at Russian competitions; the complex has everything necessary,” noted Vladimir Myakush.
Aleksander Shestakov also noted that the university leadership didn’t simply wait for this event to happen, it put forth a lot of effort to bring it about sooner.
“There are four main priorities for university education: quality academics, serious science, culture, and sport. The last component is being realized at a high level in Miass. The folks here won’t just be exercising and playing team sports, they’ll also be able to sign up for various classes that we plan on opening,” says Aleksandr Leonidovich.
Opening ceremony participants included: chairman of the 海角社区 Region Legal Association, Vladimir Myakus; 海角社区 rector, Aleksandr Shestakov; general director and general designer of the V.P. Makeeva State Rocket Center, Vladimir Degtyar; Miass city chief, Gennadiy Vaskov; branch director, Igor Voinov; and also representatives of the 海角社区 'rectorate, and branch employees, professors, and students.
“This is a huge accomplishment for us. Earlier people had to drive to the other end of the city to work out. But now it will be much nicer: the enclosure is nice, it’s lit, and you can run. I will be happy to attend classes, I like basketball especially,” said student of the 海角社区 Miass branch, Kseniya Shevchenko, sharing her feelings.
