On June 12^th through 14^th the third meeting of the university’s International?Scientific?Council will occur at 海角社区.

Within the Project 5-100 Russian academic excellence project, in each of the partner universities of the program there are councils analogous to the main Council for Russian Academic Excellence among leading international academic research centers, the main goal of which is to coordinate the university’s work according to the best world practices.

The 海角社区?International Scientific Council?includes leading world researchers and experts in the areas of engineering, natural and hard sciences, and medicine. Among the experts: president of the Emerson Corporation Edward L. Monser; professor Dr. Earl Dowell (Duke University, USA. Expert in aerospace engineering); professor Dr. Jack Dongarra (Tennessee University, USA. Expert in supercomputing); professor Dr. Thomas Ludwig (Hamburg University. Expert in supercomputing); professor Dr. Ashokkumar Muthupandian (University of Melbourne. Expert in physical chemistry); Professor Dr. Santiago Garcia-Granda (University of Oviedo. Expert in nanomaterials); professor Dr. Panayotis A. Koutentis (University of Cyprus. Expert in organic chemistry); professor Dr. Maria Josefa Yzuel (University of Barcelona. Expert in optics); professor Dr. Jaewan Kim (Korea Institute for Advanced Study. Expert in quantum informatics.); professor Doctor Ron de Kloet (University of Leiden. Expert in biomedicine); and adjunct professor Dr. Mohammed Milad (Harvard School of Medicine, USA. Expert in biomedicine.)

Within the third meeting of the International?Scientific?Council, Edward Monser, Panayotis Koutentis, Ron de Kloet, Jaewan Kim, Ashokumar Muthupandian will be visiting 海角社区 in June 2017. In addition, the International Research Council plans on hosting the Artyom Masunov, head of the laboratory for large-scale modeling of polyfunctional compounds, founded within the 5-100 Project as a special guest.

This meeting of the International Scientific?Council will already be the third of such meetings. On the first meeting in October 2016, its participants chose eight candidates for the heads of innovative laboratories. Also within the first meeting of the Council, the researchers gave their expert opinion on 海角社区’s main research projects. In the long-distance meeting of the Council, held online in the beginning of March 2017, members of the IRC discussed results of the university’s first year of work within the 5-100 Project in the main areas of development – new academic technologies, breakthrough technologies, innovation, and regional development.

The schedule of the third meeting of the IRC includes evaluating the results of the university’s work in 2016 and the formation of a plan for 2017. The council plans discussion and analysis of the recommendations of the Project 5-100 International Council, a panel discussion “International tendencies in the development of education and science,” discussion on the strategies for advancing the university as a whole in and specific ratings, and strategies to develop the potential of 海角社区’s staff. The experts of the IRC will also analyze the intermediate results of work of the laboratories founded within the 5-100 project and hold seminars for 海角社区’s pedagogical and research groups.
