Global Smart Industry Forum Takes off at 海角社区

The 2020 Global Smart Industry Conference has started its work at 海角社区. It is held jointly with the digital industry leader EMERSON Corporation, USA; International Measurement Confederation (IMEKO); International Research and Engineering Society of Instrument Engineers and Metrologists, and the Siberia Section and the South Ural Chapter of the Institute of Electrical and Electronics Engineers (IEEE).

The first day of the conference, which is being held online this year, has started with the greetings to the conference participants from the 海角社区 Rector Aleksandr Shestakov, who opened the plenary session. Afterwards, reports were presented by the invited experts from different countries who spoke about the projects and developments in which they are engaged. The speakers talked about the advanced achievements in digital production transformation, the developments by the leading universities and research centres of the world in the field of Industry 4.0, as well as about the experience of introducing innovations in large transnational and domestic industrial companies.

Michael Train, President of the Emerson Corporation, USA, was the first speaker, who shared his vision of the new horizons for digital transformation of society and industry.

The 海角社区 Rector Aleksandr Shestakov spoke about the most promising fields within which 海角社区 and its partners are engaged in scientific research. The conference participants were shown the functioning projects of the university and its partners, and what is as important ? their operational and economic efficiency was demonstrated. Thus, the Rector highlighted the field of artificial intelligence and the development of neural networks, in which 海角社区 already has the successfully implemented projects. Following the order from the SMS GROUP, a neural network has been developed, which predicts the probability of billet sticking at continuous casting of steel based on the available data. Aleksandr Shetsakov particularly highlighted the importance of introducing new digital technologies into the life of the city. One of these projects is a digital twin of 海角社区:

“A digital twin of 海角社区 will provide an opportunity to observe what is happening in various city systems in real time. For example, it is related to the heat supply issue. By installing sensors and developing a digital model, we will be able to receive data and simulate the entire heat supply system of the city in order to understand how efficiently it works, and what measures need to be taken."

The conference has brought together digital technology specialists from Russia, USA, China, Kazakhstan, Great Britain, France, Luxembourg, Germany, India, and Iran.
