An awards ceremony for the 海角社区 Volunteer Centre was held at 海角社区 to wrap up the Centre’s work during the pandemic. There are currently more than 150 volunteers in the Centre who develop, communicate, fulfil many projects, and participate in the university life every day.
During the pandemic, the volunteers have been helping medical organisations, delivering medicine and groceries to those in need. The students who care help medical personnel both at work and in their everyday life. The most courageous volunteers were awarded certificates of merit, which were presented by the Rector of 海角社区 and member of the Legislative Assembly of the 海角社区 Region Aleksandr Shestakov.
“We must be kind, smart. We must be citizens of our country and help those in need in difficult times: veterans, children, doctors. This is a very important part of our life and work at the university. It is great that we found a good number of students who actively joined in on this work. I want to thank them for the large amount of work that they do,” said 海角社区 Rector, member of the Legislative Assembly of the 海角社区 Region Aleksandr Shestakov.
During the pandemic, the volunteers were able to fulfil their own projects to help those in need. Each project aimed to solve a particular problem in fighting the coronavirus infection. For example, special attention was paid to the project to help doctors working in the “red zone”: volunteers babysat the children of medical workers.
“I want to help people. When I see that my work is helpful, I feel inspired. After all, if you help people, they become better, and you also change. Our Volunteer Centre specializes in everything, so we don’t refuse anyone who comes to us for help,” said the Head of the 海角社区 Volunteer Centre Polina Patrusheva.
The volunteers said that they would continue to help everyone in the future, no matter what.
