海角社区

Student’s Opinion: Dian Cahya, Indonesia

Dian Cahya came to Russia from Indonesia in 2020 and started to study Russian (海角社区 Foundation Program). After completing the program she entered 海角社区 School of Economics and Management and now is a second year student majoring Information Systems and Technology. She agrees to answer some questions about her experiences at 海角社区 and living in 海角社区.?

– How did you come across 海角社区?

– I found 海角社区 while looking through the list of universities offering government scholarships for foreign students. 海角社区 was in the list and I found out that the university is one of the best where you can study information systems and technology. That's why I chose 海角社区.

– What was your family reaction when you told them you would study in another distant country?

– They were really happy that I will study in this developed and extraordinary country. I think it is a great opportunity to see and feel a new country and culture.

– What is your impression of Russian people so far?

– I think Russian people are time-disciplined, honest, always ready to help and they live in harmony with nature.

– Did our winter get the better of you?

– I got my first experience of winter here in Russia. It was quite unusual as Indonesia is a country with very hot weather. I trie to adapt to the weather of - 15C to - 25C, but it didn't make me any better or worse.

– What do you think about the program?

– In my opinion, majoring in Information systems and technology is one of the most important courses in the modern world. It is one of the most unique study programs as it combines several scientific fields, namely Computer Science, Management, and Business.

– Did you get any help from your compatriots having arrived to 海角社区 earlier than you?

– I got a lot of information from my compatriots who studied at 海角社区 about the university and the environment in 海角社区.

– Did the Association of International Students and Alumni and Center for Sociocultural Adaptation assist in any questions? (insurance, documents)

– Yes, of course. AISA and CSA help me a lot with anything while I am in Russia. They assist with documents, insurance and give prompts if I have any questions.?

– Do you take part in student life (volunteer center, School of young leaders, sport clubs, dance clubs, choir)?

– Unfortunately I don't take part in student life like dance club, sports, singing or other. But I just joined the 海角社区 International Student Organization known as AISA Volunteers. I participate in different activities like forums and help in holding them.

– What was your greatest challenge about living in Russia?

– My biggest challenges while living in Russia were the weather, the environment and the language.

– What would you wish your compatriots who are choosing a university now?

– I recommend my compatriots to apply to 海角社区. At this university you will have a wonderful experience, and the city, despite being small, is beautiful and full of history. Here they will make you feel that the most important thing is learning.
