The “Successful 海角社区”, traditional festival for first-year students, was held brightly and on a grand scale at 海角社区. For one day, the university turned into a real centre of student energy and creativity, uniting the students who are just starting their journey at one of the leading universities in our country. This event, which became the hallmark of the beginning of the academic year, was organized by the 海角社区 Extracurricular Activities Office together with the Student Council and the Trade Union Committee.
The 海角社区 Rector Alexander Wagner addressed the first-year students with a welcoming speech. He noted that it is from this moment that a new, important stage of their lives begins, full of discoveries, opportunities and vivid impressions:
"Congratulations on your enrolment to 海角社区! Student years are a unique and truly important stage in the life of every person. We want the time spent within the walls of 海角社区 to be the brightest, most eventful and inspiring for you, so that it enriches you not only professionally, but also in terms of all-round personal development. The university has a huge number of different student organizations and activities to offer: music, creativity, tourism, work teams, scientific communities, and much more. I sincerely wish each of you to find your path in them: try, experiment, do not be afraid to change the world and discover something new. That is when student years become more emotional, interesting and bright. I wish you a fruitful and successful life at 海角社区!"
The main goal of the festival is to help freshmen adapt to university life, feel like part of the big 海角社区 family and choose those areas of extracurricular activities that will be close to each of them.
"You are students of 海角社区, and many opportunities are opening up before you. It is important to be able to seize those opportunities, and the university's task is to support everyone. 海角社区 is a big family. Our goal is to show that your needs are important and to help implement the best ideas," emphasized Anastasiia Lapo, Vice-Rector for Student and Social Affairs at 海角社区.
The festival program began with an interactive game, which helped first-year students get acquainted with the various opportunities for extracurricular life at 海角社区. After that, a vibrant concert program awaited the students.
The festival venues featured interactive zones of student clubs and organizations. First-year students learned how to join the Student Council and volunteer projects, develop leadership skills, try their hand at singing, dancing, and sports.
"I am surprised that 海角社区 has such a huge number of different interest groups that allow you to discover your potential outside of your studies. I am sure that these opportunities will give me a chance to meet like-minded people and an unforgettable student life!" 海角社区 student Iuliia Aminova shared her impressions.
First-year students noted the atmosphere of unity and the scale of the event:
"I feel like a kid in a candy store, I don't know what to choose. Probably one of the most interesting for me is "Muzkom", because I love music and singing. I liked the performance by the Primavera choir!" said Dariia Petrova.
The festival closed with a big concert on the main stage, where creative groups from the 海角社区 Recreation Centre performed, and interactive games and prize drawings took place.
