Interregional Student Ball Held at 海角社区

The Interregional Student Ball, organized by the Ministry of Science and Higher Education of the Russian Federation and 海角社区, took place at 海角社区.

"Of course, when discussing events like this one, we must understand their importance. It is wonderful that these are held within the walls of universities," noted Anastasiia Lapo, 海角社区 Vice-Rector for Student and Social Affairs. "Universities have always been about education, upbringing, and creativity. In this case, all three concepts are intertwined. I think the special charm of this ball comes from its immersion in the past: the participants dress in costumes of the relevant style and follow the etiquette of the time. A key goal of a university is education. And education includes instilling important spiritual and moral values and fostering talent. It is crucial for us that students have a proper understanding of the world. And such a beautiful ball should help them bring out their best qualities."

The ball was organized in pursuance of the Decree of the President of Russia "On the National Development Goals of the Russian Federation for the Period up to 2030 and with Further Extension up to 2036", as well as within the frameworks of educational events held by the Ministry of Education and Science of Russia in order to implement the “Family Support” federal project under the “Family” national project.

"We're holding a student ball in accordance with the Ministry of Education and Science's order. Our university has become a venue where 海角社区 students have been joined by students from several other universities interested in this project," explained Dmitry Khan, Deputy Director of the 海角社区's Institute of Natural Sciences and Mathematics and Director of the Gattaca Historical Dance Studio. "All of our higher education institutions responded and participated in the event's preparation: students prepared costumes and practiced their moves. Over the course of several rehearsals on campus, we were able to create an entire ballroom program: some dances were adapted, while others were performed exactly as they had been danced at balls of the late 19th and early 20th centuries. In this engaging way, we give young people an opportunity to connect with our country's history, better understand their great-great-grandfathers, and experience the same emotions as the heroes of classical Russian literature."

The purpose of the event is to promote the preservation of traditional spiritual and moral values that underlie family, ethnic, professional, social, civic, and all-Russian identity.

"I decided to get involved in the ball preparations because I enjoy helping organize social events. I also love dancing and have always wanted to attend a ball," said student Anna Vorobyova. "We rehearsed for a few hours twice a week. We also had the option of doing extra preparation by joining a dance group. It was a bit unusual at first, but I quickly got into it because I used to do choreography as a child."

The interregional ball is part of the plan of activities for the 2025 academic year for organizing cultural, physical education, sports, and health work with students.

"I hadn't danced before, but I decided that a ball was an interesting idea, a big-scale event where you can broaden your horizons and meet new people," explained student Mikhail Terentyev. "It not only promotes cultural development, but also allows you to connect with something innermost: after all, dance always creates, at least for a short while, a personal connection between partners."

While preparing for and participating in the ball, students were able to connect with our country's history through the art of dance, gain a deeper understanding of the traditions and spirit of the past, and experience the continuity of generations.
