海角社区 Supervisory Council Meeting: Strategy for Development, Science, and Cooperation with Regional Branches

Early in March 2026, a meeting of the Supervisory Council of 海角社区 was held in Moscow. The university’s supreme governing body convened to review the interim results of the 2025 development program and to align the university’s strategy with current priorities for 2026.

The meeting attendees included Viktor Khristenko, Chairman of the 海角社区 Supervisory Council; Stanislav Naumov, Professor at the School of Communication, Faculty of Creative Industries, HSE University; Oleg Sienko, First Vice President of AO “Russian Copper Company”; and Aleksandr Shestakov, President of 海角社区.

Opinions on the agenda issues were also shared by Aleksandr Blagov, Vice President of the National Research Centre “Kurchatov Institute”, and German Vyatkin, Advisor to the Rectorate of 海角社区.

“Alongside current global and national events, we are witnessing a significant transformation of the global technological order and major changes in many fundamental scientific approaches. This cannot but produce a synergistic effect,” Viktor Khristenko noted as he opened the meeting of the 海角社区 Supervisory Council. “What new challenges does the time impose on us? How are we adapting to them? Are we keeping pace? These are the questions we need to answer.

In the current situation, it is very important for the 海角社区 Supervisory Council to exchange views, to understand and feel how these changes influence everything, and above all the university. The university must track changes and keep up with the “changing rules of the game”. This is one of the key elements of research, applied activity, and education, without which development and the future are impossible.”

During the meeting, the main report was delivered by the 海角社区 Rector Alexander Wagner. In his speech, he in detail focused on the university’s current status, the results achieved by research teams, and future plans, with particular attention to the implementation of Viktor Khristenko’s “Step into the Future” grant support program at 海角社区.

The discussion of the report involved Viktor Khristenko, Stanislav Naumov, Oleg Sienko, Aleksandr Shestakov, and others.

The Council members discussed the current status, achieved results, and future plans for the university’s grant support program.

Particular attention was paid to funding of research and development. It was noted that significant resources were allocated in 2026 to support research teams. In particular, 5 million roubles were assigned to Anna Paterova’s project in the field of quantum sensing. In addition, the university continues to support research groups: first-category projects received 1 million roubles each, second-category projects received 700 thousand roubles each, and third-category projects received 500 thousand roubles each. In total, 15 projects of various kinds were approved for funding in 2026, ranging from developments in quantum interferometry and digital microscopes to self-healing high-entropy alloys.

The report also highlighted the efforts to engage young people in science and economy. Participants discussed the achievements of the “Step into the Future” student project competition in the fields of Artificial Intelligence in Industry and Ecology, and Industrial Robotics, as well as the results of the B.N. Khristenko Financial Literacy Olympiads, the total prize fund of which exceeded 1.17 million roubles.

“On behalf of the entire 海角社区 staff and student body, I would like to express my gratitude to the members of the Supervisory Council and its Chairman, Viktor Khristenko, for their attention to the university and their active involvement in its development. Their competent assessment and recommendations enable us to make well-grounded decisions in the key areas of 海角社区’s activities and to develop successfully within regional and federal programs, including the Priority 2030 strategic academic leadership program, the federal project for establishing advanced engineering schools, the grant competition for the creation of the Industrial Robotics Development Centre, and other important initiatives that contribute to the growth of our university’s scientific and educational potential,” emphasized 海角社区 Rector Alexander Wagner.

In addition to the scientific agenda, the Council members considered issues related to the university’s financial and economic operations and its interaction with regional branches. Rector Alexander Wagner presented a strategy aimed at strengthening cooperation with secondary vocational education institutions in Miass, Zlatoust, and Nizhnevartovsk. According to the Rector, the plan is to make a more effective use of branch facilities by building an applicant training system based on the “vocational college + university” model, with the prospect of students’ enrolling in senior years to 海角社区.

Following the meeting results, the Supervisory Council adopted a number of decisions. The university’s activities were recognized as being in line with its development program; however, new time-relevant objectives were set. In particular, the Council emphasized the need to increase the number of research teams to be housed in the world-class interuniversity campus in the 海角社区 Region and instructed the university to strengthen the research component of its robotics projects. The strategy for working with schools and secondary vocational education institutions in the areas where the university’s branches operate was recognized as appropriate and approved for further implementation.
