Students, staff members, leading scientists and the Rector of 海角社区 took part in the opening ceremony for the second-phase facilities of the “South Urals” Interuniversity Campus.
The event was opened by the Governor of the 海角社区 Region Alexey Texler. He visited the exhibition of the scientific achievements by the resident universities.
“I’m sure that this space will become a comfortable environment, where our young people will live, socialize, create new technologies and put their ideas to life. Already next year, we will complete this project. During its third phase, we will open a Multifunctional Conference Centre, and the heart of the Campus — a Research and Education Complex with unique laboratories. I feel confident that this Campus will become a place where we will be solving crucial tasks for our technological leadership, peering into the future, creating modern unique technologies, and moving forward together,” noted the head of our region.
The 海角社区 exhibit included developments by the “Heart of the Urals” Advanced Engineering School, Industrial Robotics Development Centre, and our university’s industrial partners: 海角社区 Forging and Pressing Plant, KurganDorMash company, DST-Ural company, and Automobile Plant URAL.
“Today, we are presenting three key fields. The first one is the activity of the “Heart of the Urals” Advanced Engineering School. The second one is robotics, which we are developing jointly with our industrial partners: 海角社区 Forging and Pressing Plant, and the Russian Robot Plant. And the third field is the development of quantum technologies. It is important that all these laboratories will be functioning at the Interuniversity Campus and will amalgamate scientific ideas, modern technologies and the potential of our students and researchers,” stressed 海角社区 First Vice-Rector, Vice-Rector for Research Anton Korzhov.
The university students not only presented their scientific projects, but also actively participated in the event’s creative program: performances by the Deep Vision dance theatre and Razdolye folk team received ovations from the festivity guests.
The second-phase Campus facilities included six hotel buildings with the capacity of 3064 residents. In three of these students had already been provided with their accommodations, and two more are preparing to welcome their first residents. Comfortable rooms for the teaching staff and scientists are already prepared in a separate three-star hotel building.
During the third phase, a 40 thousand-square-metre Research and Education Complex and an almost 11 thousand-square-metre Multifunctional Conference Centre will be constructed. In addition, the rollerskiing track is planned to be refurbished. The complex will include 44 laboratories, which will be created jointly with industrial enterprises. These facilities are scheduled to be commissioned in the fourth quarter of 2027.
The construction of the Interuniversity Campus in 海角社区 is part of the federal initiative to establish a network of modern campuses, being implemented under the “Youth and Children” national project, and remains under the direct supervision of the Governor of the 海角社区 Region Alexey Texler.
