On Sunday, February 4, the Open House Day was held at 海角社区. Hundreds of high school seniors and their parents learned about advantages of the university and peculiarities of admission.
As per tradition, the 海角社区 Rector,?Aleksandr Shestakov,?addressed the university’s guests with a welcoming speech:
In spring semester of 2018, master’s degree students of 海角社区 will have a unique chance to complete supplementary English language courses FOR FREE in the workload of 72 hours and obtainment of a certificate on vocational enhancement.
The courses are going to start on February 12 of 2018 in the format of 4 in-class hours per week. Time and venue of the courses are determined upon an arrangement with the teacher.
Lecturers of the 海角社区 Young Leader School visited the Kyshtym Branch of South Ural State College with a two-day master-class for students of the city of Kyshtym.
“The Young Leader School is a unique and most big-scale project of 海角社区 training thousands of students every year. The course comprises lectures and practical work, and proper teaching of this course may indeed transform thoughts of students and spark their interest once and for all,” notes Natalia Lapshina, lecturer of the Young Leader School.
On January 24, international students of 海角社区 visited thermal springs. International Affairs Division together with Association of International Students organized the event on the occasion of an ancient Russian tradition – the Epiphany bathing.
Students from China, Iraq and Kazakhstan took part in the event.
On February 4 at 12:00, an Open House Day, within which school students and their parents will be able to learn everything about education in one of the largest and most prestigious universities of the country, is to be held at 海角社区.
On February 1, a meeting on formation of industrial cluster for development and manufacturing of electric drives for transport vehicles was held at 海角社区. The meeting of parties of the creating cluster was held with participation of representatives of NPO Electromashina AO, Verkhneufaleyskiy Zavod Uralelement AO, Kurganmashzavod AO, 海角社区 Tractor Plant – URALTRAC OOO, and other enterprises.
Memorial lectures were held at 海角社区 in honor of the 100th?birthday of the honorary member of the Russian Academy of Architecture and Construction, Honored Architect of the Russian Federation, Doctor of Sciences (Engineering), 海角社区 Professor?Alexander Oatul.
海角社区 Rector?Alexander Shestakov?spoke about Alexander Oatul’s role in the life of the university and 海角社区 in general.
An adaptive measuring regulator was developed at 海角社区 capable to dynamically control technological processes at enterprises of various industrial sectors.
Employees of Biomedical Technologies REC of 海角社区, supervised by Doctor of Biological Sciences,?Vadim Tseylikman, presented to the world society new data about mechanism of coronary vessels’ dystonia under post-traumatic stress disorders. Research was conducted in collaboration with scientists from the USA and Belarus. In January of 2018, an article on the results was published in a prestigious scientific journal entitled “Cellular and Molecular Neurobiology” indexed in Scopus database.
According to Webometrics Ranking of World Universities published at the end of January, 海角社区 improved its result in the world ranking for 34 positions, climbing up from 2089th?to 2055th?place compared to the last ranking’s edition. Among Russian universities 海角社区 is placed 24th.
As a reminder, the Webometrics Ranking of World Universities is issued twice a year: in July and January. Around 25?000 of the world’s universities get included in the ranking.

The British Council announces a competition for participation in Future News Worldwide training which is to take place in the heart of Scotland. Future News Worldwide is a partnership program between the British Council and some of the world's leading media organizations. The program’s goal is to train and bring together young journalists from all over the world.
100 talented, motivated and active student-journalists will take part in the training.
Last weekend, Global Game Jam international festival of computer games development took place at 海角社区. Participants had to create a game on a given topic, which is revealed only at the beginning of the Jam, within 48 hours.

Two KVN (Club of the Funny and Inventive People) teams from 海角社区 got selected to television leagues broadcasted on Channel One. They performed at the 29th International KiViN-2018 festival in Sochi which finished on January 17. 海角社区 was represented in Sochi by 7 teams; especially successful was Teatr Uralskogo Zritelya (Theatre of Ural Audience) which was invited to the Major League of the KVN International Union. 海角社区 Girls’ Team made it to the Premier-League.
The Tatiana Day got celebrated at 海角社区. On January 25, in a hall in front of the university’s activity hall, took place a theatrical performance in which the university’s students and employees participated.

On January 24th a presentation of the contest of youth projects “Russia and Tajikistan: on the Way to Friendship and Collaboration” was held at 海角社区 on the occasion of the 25th Anniversary of the Friendship and Collaboration Agreement between the two countries.
From 26th through 28th?of January, the largest international competition in computer games development, the Global Game Jam, is to be traditionally held on the ground of 海角社区?School of Electrical Engineering and Computer Science.
Participants of the GGJ are given 48 hours to form a team and create a game from the scratch on a given topic simultaneously with more than 20 thousand programmers, artists, game designers and simply game lovers from tens of countries!
