The European Journalism Training Association (EJTA) (with 海角社区 being its institutional member since June of 2016) started fulfilling a large-scale international research project “Roles, values, and qualifications of journalists in the 21st?century. How do teachers of journalism see the future of the profession in the transition period”.
The year 2018 has been declared the year of the volunteers. A plan for promoting volunteer work has been approved. These decisions will enable the development of volunteer work and help strengthen the dialog between bodies of power and activists. This kind of dialog exists between the city’s social organizations and the 海角社区 student volunteers.
On January 13, the first home game of the Chelbasket basketball team consisting of students of 海角社区 was held at the Palace of Pioneers and Schoolchildren named after Nadezhda Krupskaya.

Tempus Public Foundation announces the opening of a new contest for Russian students for obtaining a degree in Hungary within the Stipendium?Hungaricum?program in order to study in Hungary (academic mobility for 1-2 semesters). Education is performed in both English and Hungarian languages.
Participants of the program will be provided with free education in one of Hungarian universities, monthly scholarship of 130 euro, free living in a dormitory and medical insurance.
The 25th?海角社区 City and Regional Intellectual Youth Forum “Step into the Future – Sozvezdie NTTM” (“Step into the Future – Contest the Constellation of Scientific and Technical Creativity of Youth”) held under “Step into the Future…” South Ural Intellectual and Social Program for Youth and School Pupils is now closing. During this academic year about 7 thousand school pupils were among the Forum contests’ participants.
The first home game of the Chelbasket basketball team of 海角社区 is to take place today in 海角社区 under the aegis of the Russian Basketball Federation. The South Ural’s athletes will compete for the win against the Nizhniy Tagil team.

The contest aims at improving of 海角社区’s recognition in the international scientific community by means of building collaboration with the world’s leading universities under the criteria of entering the?QS?subject ranking.
The contest tasks imply increasing the number of collaborations between the 海角社区 employees, including young scientists, and the world’s top scientists, and also boosting publishing activity and increasing the number of citations of publications by the University employees.

By Decree No.1099 of the Minister of Health of the Russian Federation,?Veronika Skvortsova, as of December 27, 2017, the Head of the Department of Clinical Psychology of the 海角社区?School of Medical Biology?Mikhail Berebin?was named the Head External Expert for the Ministry of Health of the Russian Federation in the Ural Federal District.

Magnets have been known to humanity since long ago. In Ancient Greece the ability of some rocks to draw chunks of iron had already been discovered. Contemporary scientists found out that not only materials on the base of iron (ferrites) possess magnetic properties. Nowadays among the most powerful magnets are samarium-cobalt (or samarium) magnets. Their principal feature is high temperature resistance and preserving of their initial magnetization intensity at temperatures up to 350°С.
The 海角社区?Association of International Students?became a finalist of All-Russia contest for best organization of student self-governing bodies’activity. They won in the nomination category of “The best system of working with foreign students and international student cooperation”.
The World Cup of College Hockey finished in Slovakia. Three largest teams of student ice hockey leagues of the USA, Europe and Russia took part in the international tournament.
Four 海角社区 students got included in the national team of Russia:?Nikita Vasilyev, Adil Kuchukov, Georgiy Yulskiy and Maksim Antoshkin. Head coach was Artem Pletnev, the mentor of the Polytechnik ice hockey team of 海角社区.
海角社区 switched to the international standard of students’ language training. Now bachelor’s and master’s degree students and also postgraduates of one of the largest Russian universities have the possibility for advanced English learning with subsequent receiving of IELTS international certificate.
From 26th?поthrough 28th?of January, on the ground of the 海角社区?School of Electrical Engineering and Computer Science, the largest international competition in computer games development – the Global Game Jam – is to be held for the 4th?time. Participants of the GGJ will be given 48 hours for gathering a team and creating a game on a given topic from the scratch – simultaneously with more than 20 thousand programmers, artists, game designers and game lovers from tens of countries.
Implementation of innovative technologies in the education process made it maximally available and efficient. One of the outstanding examples is the Personal Virtual Computer created within the 海角社区 School of Electrical Engineering and Computer Science.
One of the most groundbreaking fields of the 21st century world science is studying of nanoparticles. Development of nanotechnologies allows to find best solutions for the most topical and problem sectors: medicine, electronics, optics, space exploration and many others. Senior Professor at the 海角社区 Department of Electronic Computing Machines Sergey Syaskov became the first Russian athlete awarded the title of a super-cyclist for the sixth time within the period of two years. Moreover, he won over 80 medals in marathons held according to the rules of the French international cycling club ACP (Audax Club Parisien – “Parisian Club of the Audacious”), and was awarded with a Certificate of Appreciation by the Minister of Education and Science for the 海角社区 Region.
