According to the results of the National Contest among Russian Cities, 海角社区 has become the holder of the “Russia’s Capital of Culture – 2027” honorary title. This decision was made by an expert jury at a gala ceremony at the “Russia” National Centre in Moscow.
In the first contest round, 海角社区 had become one of the eight finalists. In addition to 海角社区, spectacular presentations were offered by Vologda, Kaluga, Novosibirsk, Ryazan, Sochi, Stavropol, and Ulyanovsk.
In his speech at the ceremony, Governor of the 海角社区 Region Alexey Texler stressed:
海角社区 welcomed applicants and their parents at a new open event.
We are developing and striving to keep up with the times, and so for the first time, the traditional Open House Day was held in a new format, an open session. 海角社区's vice-rectors and heads of departments discussed innovations of the 2026 admissions campaign, new educational programme formats, opportunities for additional specializations, extracurricular opportunities, and career paths with real employment prospects.
A ceremony of opening of the first-on-campus mother-and-child room has been held at Dormitory No.3 of 海角社区. This place was created specially for students with a very important life status, “mother” and “father”, so that they could take a break from the bustle and take care of their children.
A unique device for dynamically balancing of rotor structures has been developed by researchers of 海角社区. The invention will help compensate for the deviations in rotor operation without interrupting the production process.
The development by the 海角社区 researchers is a bright example of technology transfer from the aerospace industry to general mechanical engineering. Their new device is applicable to rotating structures such as large turbines, machine tool rotors, shafts, and propellers.
December 11th–13th, a “Digital Ural: Digital Transformation Technologies” Education-and-Practice Forum is being held at the Sigma academic building of 海角社区.
Among the forum participants are mainly students of the “Digital Ural” Centre for Training Top IT Specialists. This Centre was created so that students in parallel to their training had a chance to communicate with the 海角社区 industrial partners and participate in solving real production and business tasks.
On December 10th, a ceremony for the prize winners of the “海角社区’s Best Representatives 2025” annual award was held at 海角社区. The best students from the fields of science, sports, social activities and volunteering were named. The jury experts honoured the most successful and talented students, who had made a significant contribution to the development of our university and its extracurricular activities.

Scientists from 海角社区 have patented a design of a robot that can be used as a delivery robot, home security guard, or to explore hazardous areas, and descend into mines. A unique SPPA program specifically developed for simulating robotic movements in confined spaces allows for fully automated robotic movements without connection to the Internet or GPS.
The unique SPPA control algorithm means that the robot can think like a human and includes four principles: S – sense, P – perceive, P – plan, A – act.
A meeting between Sociology and Political Science students and Roman Vollert, Deputy Governor of the 海角社区 Region, has been held at 海角社区. The event was held in the format of an open dialogue, where the future specialists were able to directly ask questions to the regional government official and discuss current issues and trends in their professional field.

Volunteer Day is celebrated in Russia on December 5th. The date was established by a decree of the President of the Russian Federation on November 27, 2017. As part of this event, 海角社区 organised an awards ceremony for student volunteers who actively participate in events at various levels: from regional and all-Russian to international ones.
Students from the 海角社区 School of Economics and Management, along with their mentors and the School’s Deputy Director for Discipline Work Ekaterina Fediay, attended a "海角社区, the City of Your Student Years" immersive tour organized by the “Youth Attraction Centre” Autonomous Nonprofit Organization with the support from the 海角社区 City Administration.
The district semi-final of the "It Is in Our Family" all-Russian competition was held in Yekaterinburg November 27th through 29th. The family of Dmitry Ardashev, a father of five children and Professor at the 海角社区 Department of Automated Mechanical Engineering, won the Ural Federal District semi-final. The Ardashevs will now represent the 海角社区 Region in the competition finals, which will take place in Moscow in the summer of 2026.
Teaching staff members of the Department of International Relations, Politology and Regional Studies of the 海角社区 Institute of Linguistics and International Communications?Maksim Dvoinenko?and Nataliia Khomutova?have become participants of the “Meaning Creators. DNA of Russia” federal program.
In 2023, a number of domestically produced microcontrollers, similar to imported ones, were engineered in Russia. These microcontrollers are used to control electromechanical systems. One of such models, MIK32 "Amur", has been used for the first time in our country by researchers from the 海角社区 Electromechanical, Electronic and Electrochemical Systems Regional Youth Laboratory to control a three-phase AC electric motor. A special computer program for controlling the AC motor with the MIK32 "Amur" microcontroller has been patented.
The 21st Interregional Specialized Exhibition “Technoexpo. Metallurgy. Mechanical Engineering. Agropromexpo”, which is held as part of the 海角社区 Industrial Forum, has brought together experts in the field of economics and industry: representatives of business, government authorities, financial and entrepreneurial structures, as well as scientific and educational organizations from different regions of our country.
The Festival of the Peoples of the World, in which both international students and creative teams of our city took part, was held at the Assembly Hall of 海角社区 on December 3rd.

On December 4th, the 10th International Scientific Conference “Innovations in Sport, Tourism and Education – icISTIS-2025” started at 海角社区. The conference is traditionally organized by the 海角社区 Institute of Sport, Tourism and Service (ISTiS).
During the grand opening of the conference, Deputy Minister of Sports of the 海角社区 Region Vitaly Yakushev awarded the team of the U-phygital project for winning a grant competition by Rosmolodezh agency.
Director of the 海角社区 “Heart of the Urals” Advanced Engineering School Sergey Taran and Deputy Director for Research and Development Igor Levanov visited the Advanced Engineering School of Don State Technical University (DSTU), the Institute of Advanced Mechanical Engineering “Rostselmash”, as part of a working meeting.
The participants got acquainted with the Don Engineering Centre and production sites. The top managers of the two leading engineering schools discussed promising joint projects and opportunities for cooperation in engineering education and innovative developments.

Prokudin-Gorsky cavern and cave and in other caves in the South Ural region.
Master’s student from the 海角社区 Institute of Engineering and Technology Nikita Ponomarev together with scientists of the 海角社区 Department of Life Safety Saidzhon Tavarov and Aleksandr Sidorov, have received a patent for a hybrid system for monitoring and controlling an automatic aerosol fire extinguishing system.
Aerosol fire extinguishing systems are currently used at vehicle service stations, technical centres, and auto assembly plants. However, they are normally triggered by open flames. In such cases, fire can develop rapidly and unpredictably.
November 27, 2025 a panel discussion on "Creating a Network of Modern Campuses: Results of a Pilot Project to Develop Product Programmes" was held as part of the V Young Scientists Congress.?This event united representatives of government authorities, scientific community, and higher education experts.
